Florida State League President Chuck Murphy announced Friday the addition of Fort Myers Miracle pitcher Dakota Watts to the 2011 All-Star Game to played at Bright House Field, home of the Clearwater Threshers, today, June 18, at 7:05 p.m.
Watts joins catcher Danny Rams representing the Miracle on the South Division All-Star Team.
Infielder Brian Dozier and pitcher Bruce Pugh were also selected, but the two are currently with Double-A New Britain and will not participate.
Watts, a 16th round pick in the 2009 Major League Draft from Cal State-Stanislaus, has seven saves with a 2-2 record and 4.44 ERA. The 23-year-old right-hander from Oroville, Calif., is in his second year with the Miracle.
Rams, a catcher, is hitting .258 with 11 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 23 RBI thus far for the Miracle, who at the break stand in second place with a 33-34 record, two games back of the division leading St. Lucie Mets, who stand at 35-32.
Twenty-three Miracle players have been selected to the all-star team in the last four years, including a record eight in 2009.
North All-Star team members represent Brevard County, Clearwater, Daytona Beach, Dunedin, Lakeland, and Tampa. South All-Star team members represent Bradenton, Charlotte, Fort Myers, Jupiter, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie.
The all-star players, coaches and umpires will be honored at events during the all-star weekend.
