HOBE SOUND (AP) - A Florida Treasure Coast man was seriously wounded when he accidentally shot himself in the face.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office reports that 21-year-old Joshua Krakat was messing around in front of friends Wednesday when he put a 9mm handgun up to his cheek and pulled the trigger. He had removed the magazine from the gun but apparently forgot a round was still in the chamber.
The shot created a facial wound and broke Krakat's jaw in two places. He was airlifted to a West Palm Beach hospital. His injuries weren't considered life-threatening, but the loudness of the gunfire may have caused some hearing loss.
