TAVARES (AP) - A man was killed when he collided head-on with a garbage truck in Lake County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Jamar Chamblis was driving on County Road 48 Tuesday afternoon when he moved into the westbound lane on the two-lane highway and hit the Mack truck.
Officials say Chamblis was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 32-year-old Montea Ellis was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the garbage truck, 50-year-old Millard Rucker, suffered minor injuries.
The Highway Patrol investigation continued late Tuesday.
