TARPON SPRINGS (AP) - A deserving family in the Tampa Bay area will soon move into a former drug house that was seized by authorities.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Justice is turning the house over to housing officials in the city of Tarpon Springs, northwest of Tampa.
The house will be rehabilitated in preparation for a new family moving in. It was seized during a drug investigation in 2008 that led to a federal indictment of its owner.
The property transfer is part of the Department of Justice's "Operation Goodwill" program, which is designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and local communities.
