NAPLES (AP) - A southwest Florida man died shortly after being stunned with a Taser by Collier County deputies.
The sheriff's office reports that deputies responded to a domestic disturbance Sunday, where 26-year-old Linel Lormeus' mother was trying to get him under control. The woman told deputies that Lormeus suffered from a mental illness and had stopped taking his medication.
Lormeus reportedly ran from deputies and tried to fight them off. Deputies stunned Lormeus, who then suffered from an unknown medical emergency. Deputies performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Lormeus was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
