North Fort Myers has a tough task ahead this fall. Not only will they try and improve on last year's disappointment, but also must replace graduated playmakers Tre Boston and Nathan Macintosh.
The top receiving and rushing threats have all graduated so there are fresh new faces mainly on the offensive side of the ball.
The Red Knights didn't have a bad year statistically as they scored more points than they gave up. On the other hand, they lost every close game and were blown out by Ida Baker and South Fort Myers. If they want to become a winning football team again, they will have to learn how to come together and win the tight ones.
North Fort Myers quarterback Chaz Richards (7) drops back in tandem with other QBs during an indoor practice because of lightning.
The defense should be solid with the return of key starters. With all the new players on offense, the Knights may have to rely heavily on a steady defense.
This may be tough to do as they must break in a new quarterback with very little varsity experience. Chase Wildman is in charge for the Red Knights and will have to learn on the fly.
Losing to Lehigh 33-14 in the spring game made the summer important as they try to figure out their identity.
The Red Knights make their season debut Sept. 3 on the road at Island Coast with the first home game Sept. 10 against Ida Baker.
