Morning fire causes $150,000 in damage to apartment on Atlantic Court

July 26, 2010
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

An apartment fire that occurred early this morning on Atlantic Court caused $150,000 to one of the units in the three-plex. The cause of the fire was incendiary, and the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.

At 2:21 a.m., Cape Fire units responded to a report of smoke coming from a vacant unit located at 4807 Atlantic Court. Fire Truck #1 attacked the fire and prevented the spread to other units. By 2:53 a.m., firefighters had extinguished the fire.

Cape fire investigators determined that the fire started in the storage/laundry room on the lanai with the point of origin near the west side of the room. The heat source has not yet been determined. LCEC arrived and disconnected the power to the unit. A Cape Coral building official also responded and red-tagged the unit.
