Billboard company appoints new Miami sales manager

Fort Myers-based billboard company Carter Outdoor Advertising has promoted Jhanna Tucker to sales manager for its Miami market. Tucker's area of responsibility will range from Fort Lauderdale south to Florida City.

A resident of Southwest Florida for the past 18 years, Tucker has been with Carter Outdoor for 10 years as an account executive in Fort Myers.

Shell Point landscaper completes program

Steven Morton, landscape manager for Shell Point Retire-ment Community, recently became one of only 127 grounds management professionals in the nation to successfully complete the Certified Grounds Manager program offered through The Professional Grounds Manage-ment Society.

Morton has been with Shell Point since 2005, and in addition to this recent certification, he is a certified horticultural professional, certified landscape inspector, certified arborist and has a license in pesticide application for lawns and ornamental plants issued by the State of Florida.

The property at Shell Point Retirement Community is comprised of more than 500 acres and Morton is responsible for of all the landscaping outside of the golf course. He oversees 17 employees in his department, as well as five contract turf-care contractors, and watches over a range of horticultural plants from palms to orchids.

Shell Point Retirement Community is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located in Fort Myers just off Summerlin Road, two miles before the Sanibel causeway.

Southwest Florida International Airport reports April traffic

During April, 813,329 passengers traveled through South-west Florida International Air-port, a decrease of 4.3 percent compared to April 2009. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 2.4 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in April was Delta with 159,448 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (131,712), JetBlue (108,177), Southwest (92,801) and Continental (82,156).

Southwest Florida Interna-tional Airport had 8,658 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 3 percent compared to April 2009. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 7,897 movements, an increase of 12.2 percent from April 2009.

In addition, nearly 3 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in April 2010.

Southwest Florida Interna-tional Airport served more than 7.4 million passengers in 2009 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.

Rice again named 'Super Lawyer'

J. Jeffrey Rice of the local law firm of Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice and Purtz PA has once again been named "Super Lawyer" by nationally respected "Law & Politics" magazine. This makes the fifth concecutive time that he has been chosen for this honor.

Only 5 percent of attorneys nationwide are given the title "Super Lawyer" in an annual selection by a blue ribbon panel, which searches for outstanding attorneys by reviewing databases, on-line sources, national and local periodicals and trade journals.

The panel also contacts many law firms in the search for qualified candidates. Ultimately, each candidate's standing is checked with The Florida Bar.

Rice has also been recognized for other honors recently, including being appointed to the Grievance Committee for United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division and being selected to be included in the 2010 edition of 'The Best Lawyers in America' publication.

Retina Consultants physicians named 'Top Doctors'

For the fifth year in a row, two of physicians of Retina Consul-tants of Southwest Florida have been named "Top Doctors." Joseph P. Walker, MD, and Paul A. Raskauskas, MD, ophthalmologists specializing in diseases of the retina, are featured in Top Doctors section of the June 2010 edition of Gulfshore Life Magazine.

McQuagge certified as circuit court mediator

Fort Myers attorney Michael C. McQuagge, a board certified civil trial attorney, was recently certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a circuit court mediator.
