Chalk up another victory, as well as another shutout, for the unbeaten Ida Baker girls' soccer team.
The Bulldogs traveled to Charlotte County Friday night and raided the Port Charlotte Pirates for an 8-0 victory. That's the same score the Bulldogs pinned on the Pirates three weeks ago in a Saturday tournament at Mariner.
The win is the eight shutout decision for the Bulldogs (14-0) this season, but coach Dave Trepkowski is not looking at the scoreboard in awe.
"We've been fortunate," he said. "More than half our games have been by more than a one-goal differential (actually 12 of 14). We just want to go out and work on some different formations because we know later in some games, especially in district play, we might be down and need a goal to tie a game up."
Trepkowski purposely chose to play against the win in the first half Friday night and opened a 4-0 lead in the process. Midway through the second half, the Bulldogs ended the game early with their eighth goal.
"It was a good opportunity for us to play against the win and put pressure on the girls to follow certain formations," added Trepkowski.
Five players scored for the Bulldogs - Christine Giles netted three goals, Payton Van Horn scored two while Monique Elliott, Cynthia Paredes and Shannon Pearl each added one goal. Giles also came through with three assists with one assist apiece from Elliott, Paredes and Brittney Herrera.
Baker hosts North Fort Myers Thursday night in a nondistrict match. The Bulldogs pulled out a 1-0 victory over the Red Knights in their official District 4A-11 encounter last week.
"We're only looking to be 15-0, not looking beyond North," said Trepkowski. "(Our) loss or a tie for them (North) would be as good as a win."
Fort Myers 5, North Fort Myers 2: Despite scoring the first goal, North Fort Myers languished and was battered by Fort Myers.
Casey Gentile and Amy Pavy collected unassisted goals for the Red Knights while goalkeeper Brianna Abatisti produced 12 saves.
North (7-6-2) hosts Charlotte Monday.

Baker Invitational: Mariner, Cypress Lake and Estero gather at Baker High School Saturday for a one-day round-robin tournament hosted by the Bulldogs.
The first of six games kicks off at 9 a.m. on the stadium field with the Bulldogs (5-2-3) locking up with Cypress Lake.
Each game consists of two 30-minute halves with a 10-minute halftime. Head-to-head and goal differential tiebreakers will determine first and second place finishers.
Mariner takes the field for the second game at 10:30 against Estero, followed by Baker and Estero at noon; Cypress Lake and Mariner at 1:30 p.m.; Estero and Cypress Lake at 3 p.m.; and Baker and Mariner in the finale at 4:30.
As many as seven college coaches have confirmed their attendance, according to Bulldogs coach Mick Whitewood.
"Next year I hope to turn it into a big college showcase with more teams," he said earlier this week.
The event includes performances by Baker's Latin Rhythm Team and a penalty kick competition for prizes.
Baker also hosts a one-day girls' soccer tournament next Saturday.
North Fort Myers 1, Fort Myers 0: Scotty Belbeck netted a goal off an assist from Rob Arrastia midway through the second half to lift North Fort Myers to victory over Fort Myers.
Goalkeeper Chris Hamilton preserved the shutout with four saves for the Red Knights, who play at Cape Coral Tuesday night.
