A sobriety checkpoint was conducted in Lee County by several area law enforcement agencies Friday night, Nov. 13, at 7070 College Parkway, Fort Myers. The following are the results of the activity that began at 11 p.m. and ended at 3 a.m. Saturday:

* DUI Arrests: 10

* No Valid Driver's License: 3

* Driving While License Suspended: 4

* Carrying a Concealed Weapon: 1

* Traffic Citations: 42

* Written Warnings: 12

Number of Vehicles passing through checkpoint: 758

The primary emphasis for checkpoints is to remove impaired drivers from the roadway, reduce the likelihood impaired drivers will operate their vehicles on our roadways, heighten public awareness and educate the public on the dangers of drunk driving.

This weekend's checkpoint involved members of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Fort Myers Police Department and the Florida Department of Transportation
