Checkpoint nets 10 DUI arrests

A sobriety checkpoint at 7070 College Parkway, Fort Myers resulted in 10 DUI arrests Friday night and Saturday morning.
The following are the results of the activity that began at 11 p.m. and ended at 3 a.m. Saturday:
- DUI Arrests: 10
- No Valid Driver's License: 3
- Driving While License Suspended: 4
= Carrying a Concealed Weapon: 1
- Traffic Citations: 42
- Written Warnings: 12
- Number of Vehicles passing through checkpoint: 758
This weekend's checkpoint involved members of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Fort Myers Police Department and the Florida Department of Transportation.

the action of luring an individual into committing a crime in order to prosecute the person for it. police dont ask people to drink. they make sure you dont drive after you drink too much. you have never seen the results or been affected by a dui have you. i wish they could stop them all. and no i am not a cop.

I am still waiting for someone to educate me and the rest of the public as to why sobriety check points are not consider "entrapment".

Oh my goodness our wonderous police chief and his band of merry donut eaters didn't have their own DUI checkpoint? No, they's rather prey on those patronizing our city's establishments than the captives coming across both bridges! Afraid they would catch on of their own, maybe?
