Seven local sailors earned medals in their respective racing fleets during the U.S. Junior Olympic River Romp Regatta last weekend on the Caloosahatchee River and hosted by the Edison Sailing Center. The 21 Lee County sailors were among nearly 300 from around the nation, ranging in age from 7 to 18, competing over two days. Medal-winning sailors included Ali Yarborough of Estero, Adam Winton of Fort Myers, Will Hackett of Fort Myers, Jack Gower of North Fort Myers, Lynsey Randolph of Alva, Chalmers Pierce of Fort Myers and Austin Buonsignore of Fort Myers. The River Romp Regatta is the second-largest youth regatta in Florida and one of 22 Junior Olympic-sanctioned events for the 2009-10 sailing season.
