"Almost the entire" Tampa Bay Rays baseball team is expected to take part in a packed weekend of extra-special activities in Punta Gorda starting Feb. 19.
The 2008 World Series champions will be part of the "Welcome to Charlotte County" parade in their honor, starting at 3 p.m. at City Market Place in downtown Punta Gorda.
The parade route will follow Taylor Road to U.S. 41 North. At the end of the parade, the Rays are due for a meet-and-greet in Laishley Park, where they will be available to sign autographs. Rays merchandise, interactive games for kids of all ages, snacks, sodas and adult beverages also will be available.
A Gallery Walk, featuring a Mardi Gras theme, will be celebrated throughout downtown Punta Gorda that night.
The fourth annual Wine, Food and Jazz Festival occupies Laishley Park on Feb. 21, starting at 2 p.m.
Tickets for the festival are available by phone (941-639-3720), or online at www.puntagorda-chamber.com.
