POLK CITY, Fla. (AP) — Deputies say three people are dead including a child following a crash with a tractor trailer at a central Florida intersection.

The crash happened early Tuesday in Polk City.

Polk County Sheriff's deputies say a vehicle carrying two adults and four children apparently ran through a stop sign and was struck by a tractor-trailer. The vehicle was dragged some 400 feet.

Deputies say a man, woman and child in the front seat died in the crash. Two children in the back seat were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando in critical condition. An infant was taken to a hospital with non-serious injuries.

The intersection was shut down for hours as authorities investigated the crash.

Further details were not immediately available.
