TEEN ACCUSED IN MOTHER'S FATAL STABBING TO BE TRIED AS ADULT

A 17-year-old Panhandle teen will be tried as an adult in the fatal stabbing of his mother on Christmas Eve at her Gulf Breez house. The state attorney says the teen will be transferred from juvenile to adult custody Thursday.

CENTRAL FLORIDA MAN MAY HAVE BEEN KILLED BY STRAY BULLET FROM NEIGHBOR'S SHOOTING RANGE

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says the Deltona man was in his backyard Wednesday morning when he was shot in the chest. Authorities say a neighbor had built a shooting range and it was possible that a stray bullet from the range struck the victim.

TWO DEAD IN CHRISTMAS SHOOTING

Two men are dead and another was critically injured during a Christmas Day shooting near Orlando. Deputies say an armed man showed up at the apartment complex and shot his way inside.

BP APPEALS RULING IN DISPUTE OVER SPILL SETTLEMENT

BP is appealing a judge's rejection of its argument that claimants who can't trace their losses directly to the company's 2010 Gulf oil spill shouldn't receive payments through a multibillion-dollar settlement with a team of private plaintiffs' lawyers. BP attorneys filed a notice of appeal Thursday, two days after the ruling by U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier.

BODIES OF 2 FLORIDA DIVERS FOUND IN UNDERWATER CAVE

A father and son who went diving on Christmas Day with new dive equipment were found dead in an underwater cave at a north Florida wildlife refuge. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that Holly King called authorities on Christmas after her fiancé, Darrin Spivey, and his son Dillon Sanchez didn't return home after a planned dive.
