Ex-TV weatherman gets prison in Fla. teen sex case

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A former South Florida television weatherman has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for sex charges involving teenagers and computer pornography.

A Palm Beach County judge imposed the sentence Friday on 44-year-old Rob Lopicola, who was convicted of lewd and lascivious battery on a 15-year-old boy and attempted battery on a 17-year-old boy. Lopicola was also convicted of computer pornography and exploitation.

In addition to prison time, Lopicola must register as a sex offender. The Palm Beach Post ( ) reports that Lopicola resigned from WPTV in West Palm Beach after allegations of inappropriate relationships with minors surfaced. He was arrested in June 2012.

Lopicola had faced up to 20 years behind bars.
