BARTOW, Fla. (AP) — A hearing officer has ruled that two pit bulls should be euthanized for an attack on two children and two women in Lakeland.

During a hearing in Bartow on Thursday, Maria Gallo ruled that the dogs are dangerous.

The injured children denied provoking the dogs.

The dogs' owner Tanya Morse now has 10 days to appeal the ruling. She apologized for the incident and asked the victims how they are doing. She said she believes her dogs deserve another chance.

The Ledger of Lakeland ( ) reports 6-year-old Alicia Battle was playing in her backyard when the dogs — Bossman and Promise — showed up and attacked her. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital with multiple injuries. Three others, including her 7-year-old cousin, were injured while trying to help.
