HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A Florida man who was convicted of hitting and killing his friend pickup truck in northeastern Montana has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The Attorney General's office says District Judge David Cybulski sentenced 48-year-old Charles Bowen of Jensen Beach, Fla., on Wednesday for negligent homicide in the death of 48-year-old Brian Doyle.

Doyle's body was found on Jan. 20, 2012, in a ditch along U.S. Highway 2 just west of Bainville. His death certificate said he died nine days earlier from exposure and crushing injuries from being run over by a motor vehicle.

Prosecutors say Bowen acknowledged having a confrontation with Doyle and ordering him out of his truck.

The men had come from Florida to North Dakota to work in the oil fields.
