Nonprofit celebrates Florida families

September 23, 2013

MIAMI (AP) — For most parents, every day is family day in Florida. But officially, the day comes once a year.

The nonprofit Informed Families/Florida Family Partnership is leading the campaign to celebrate families Monday.

The annual effort seeks to raise awareness about strategies for helping children lead healthy lives and stay away from drugs.

Number one on the group's list: family dinners. The nonprofit urges parents to take the time to break bread and check in with their children.
