Sebelius makes Fla stops to tout health care law

MIAMI (AP) — Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will make her third trip to Florida in a week as she travels the country to promote the Oct. 1 launch date of the new online state exchanges under the Affordable Care Act.

Republican lawmakers have been harsh critics of so-called "Obamacare." Last week, the Florida Department of Health announced it would not allow trained counselors into local county health departments to help sign people up for insurance.

Democrats lambasted the move, saying it put politics ahead of people.

Political hype is ramping up on both sides of the aisle as the launch date draws closer.

Federal health officials have said they are doubling their efforts to reach an estimated 3.5 million uninsured Floridians despite obstacles from the state.
