Funeral held for bullied girl who killed self

September 16, 2013
Associated Press

BARTOW, Fla. (AP) — Mourners have packed the funeral services of a 12-year-old central Florida girl who authorities say committed suicide after being bullied.

Services were underway Monday in Bartow, Fla., for Rebecca Sedwick. Sheriff's detectives say she was "terrorized" by as many as 15 girls who ganged up on her and picked on her for nearly a year.

The approximately 250 mourners were wearing neon green T-shirts, Rebecca's favorite color. The shirts had an anti-bullying slogan.

Photos of Rebecca were on monitors in the funeral home. Her body was in a closed white casket with flowers on top.

Authorities have seized computers and cellphones from some of the other girls as they decide whether to bring charges. The parents of the other girls were also cooperating with authorities.
