TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A top Florida official in the state's university system is likely to be selected as interim chancellor.
Dean Colson, the chairman of Florida's Board of Governors, announced Thursday he will recommend that Jan Ignash be chosen to oversee the university system in October. Frank Brogan, the current chancellor, is leaving at the end of the month to take a similar job in Pennsylvania.
The board will vote on the recommendation next week.
Ignash currently serves as vice chancellor and chief academic officer for the system that includes the state's 12 public universities. She has been on the job for about 18 months.
Colson said he will appoint a search committee to find a permanent replacement for Brogan later in the month. Ignash has agreed to not apply for that job.
