March 1, 2019

To the editor: I have to comment about the front page article in the Breeze. First, understand that the earth is approximately 4.5 BILLION years old....

As a sidenote..anyone spouting that one (their)political party is pure the other all evil..like our poor hate consumed corporal below..(his life's mantra)is very challenged, obviously extremely ignorant and has -0- credibility.. Why the historical record of past weather is important is that it fully proves hot and cold weather cycles..all caused by solar output cycles.. long before PT Gore, air pollution, or any duped libby ignoramus.

angly -- "I have never personally seen a photon".

The truth of your statement depends upon your definition of "seen".

"Entangled" means MUCH MORE than THAT ! ! ! . Their behavior is so far inexplicable.

Who cares? Man has to know his/her limitations ( Dirty Harry ) .FYI....Entanglement occurs when a pair of particles, such as photons, interact physically. Additionally, I have never personally seen a photon.

DrC -- I agree that our educational processes are wanting, but I strongly DIS-agree on what the outcomes would be were those processes indeed made adequate.

The Man-in-the-Street and many, MANY others as well seem too often to be not fully acquainted with the concept of Cause and Effect ! ! !

Douglas -- Please explain to us how events on earth which happened eons ago before the advent of human beings -- how those events are relevant to the events occurring today while we are in fact here living on earth.

Douglas Madsen...the failure of our schools to properly teach the students is evident in the lack of knowledge about the constant climate change the earth experiences. Your point is spot on !

Reyemm, most Americans care. It’s the corrupt Republican congress that won’t vote our desires for a clean environment.

It is that REPUBLICAN attitude that has us w/year-round Red Tide and other toxic algae blooms and a growing 9000 sq ml dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico. It is that poisoned thinking that is killing the Great Smokey Mountains and other national forests. That no-think attitude is what allows coal and other mining companies to build weak retention ponds that break and spill in our rivers killing everything and poisoning the water for decades. It’s THEM behind the lead in the water in Michigan and on and on.

REPUBLICANS DON’T CARE.

These fools think their gated communities will protect them and care less about my grandchildren.

Who cares? Mankind is but a small grain of sand on a very large weather beach. One day of a single volcanic eruption affects more pollution than all the automobiles do for 10 years. A wobble in the earths axis of less than .001 degree affects ocean currents and temperatures for 100 years. So, who cares??? I don't.

Evidence-based context (cover your eyes deniers):

Deniers will tell you ?the IPCC “corrupted” scientists, causing climatologists to reach a false conclusion, but the IPCC was formed afterward. In fact, there are climatology papers on the co2 greenhouse effect back to the 19th century. It was illustrated by a review of climatology literature by scientists Peterson, Connolley and Fleck.

The no. of papers predicting future global cooling, warming and neutral categories from 1965 – 1979, surveys found 7 cooling, 20 neutral, and 44 warming papers. Among the cooling papers, Steven Schneider’s 1971 article contributed to Time’s famous ONE-PAGE 1975 story predicting global cooling (not the fake Times cover). Oh, and Schneider changed his mind soon afterward and endorsed the majority opinion from then until his death in 2010.

OIL BOUGHT REPUBLICANS!

Douglas -- You say, "twisting the facts" : Please state for us just exactly which “facts” are you referring to, including their origin and, so to speak, pedigree ? ?

Please also indicate your qualifications to make technical, scientifically sound judgments in each of the areas with which your “facts” are concerned.

Finally, there is the question of bias : Please indicate to us how YOUR personal financial interests intersect with the impacts of Climate Change issues.

By the way, the nature of some of your comments cause me to wonder whether or not you are fully acquainted with that fundamental concept of reasoning known as “Cause and Effect”.
