To the editor: Fentanyl is the strongest opiate on the streets right now and it’s estimated to be 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin....

A study in Canada has found that inhibition of the 5a-reductase enzyme is linked to an increased risk of depression and self-harm, particularly in the first 18 months, but not suicide. 5a-reductase inhibitors, such as Finasteride and Dutasteride are commonly used for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, an enlarged prostate gland) and androgenic alopecia (hair loss). The effect of these drugs is based on the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, the former being a hormone precursor and the latter an active hormone. Whilst there is clearly great benefit in this action, noteworthy neurological adverse effects are also linked to the function of both drugs.

Which party never hesitates to curry favor with corrupt corporations?

“The Drug Enforcement Agency claims it has had its ability limited to target problem opioid distributors - passed both chambers of Congress unanimously and was signed into law by President Barack Obama. But a DEA whistleblower told the Post and CBS that pharmaceutical lobbyists worked with the offices of sponsor Rep. Tom Marino (R-Penn.) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tn), a primary cosponsor, to weaken the language of the bill to benefit their industry.”
