netransplant - One more to the list. Why don't you ask Sam Fisher about his encounter with Carioscia. The list continues to grow.

netransplant - Add councilmen Burches name to that list. During a council meeting last year, Carioscia decided to act tough and went after Burch calling him ... "Jimmy boy over there" & then went on to challenge CM Burch, telling him "why didn't YOU do anything about it when you were Mayor"? Burch replied by telling him that he was Mayor during the housing bubble crisis and reminded Carioscia that Cape Coral had no money to do anything then. He stated that it was very difficult even keeping the cities basic needs met. SO YES, Carioscia has had more than his share of outbursts with his fellow colleagues & I totally agree than he is a bully.

netransplant - How can you possibly disagree with what Rosko wrote "Carioscia is the single biggest bully that sits on the Dias!!" --This has been proven time and time again. I still remember the 1st time I heard his name. Approximately 6 years, I received a phone call advising me to turn on WINK news. It was the 10PM news and the story was about 2 councilmembers getting into a tiff. YES, it was Carioscia and he was accused of grabbing his groin, while arguing with his fellow colleague. Of course he denied it, but if you watch the video, it did appear suspicious. The guy has anger management issues. Last year alone he went after Erbrick, Leon, Cosden & Stout.

netransplant.....Do you have the correct data for irregular shaped properties, which would include cul-de-sacs? Just curious.

To: The Real Truth. Thank you. You may or may not be privy to private comments from many of those in attendance at the COW meeting yesterday. If you are, read at least 75 comments to date. All of their comments as stated leave these people really fuming with the Mayor and Council. Some state that if there is not going to be any positive change....They will be moving. Trust me, they have the money to do so. Very sad to say the least! (The site I am referring to is not Facebook.)

netransplant, I beg to differ with you by calling certain individuals on these blogs whiners.... by your count. Surprise, surprise.... If you were privy to so many other private comments from concerned citizens some of whom were in attendance at the meeting yesterday you would stand up to the plate and apologize, because I do not believe they would appreciate or like to be called whiners. Kindly cease and desist with your attempt to make everyone and anyone you chose look foolish. And, what in the heck does Val have to do with this???????

To add, outside the public 60' or 50' ROW, there is an easement of 6' of your property that is set aside for public utilities. The easements are yours, but all public utilities (phone, sewer, cable, e.g.) can be placed in the easement that is on all sides of your property. These easements on each private property are 6' on all sides of the property.

Real Truth, The right-of-way is the public property the street is on, as well as the storm swales along the edges of the roadway. You can look up the lines in GIS on the City website. A typical residential street has a 60' ROW, with some being only 50'. 60' is 20 feet of asphalt with a 20' area to each side of the road. If your street has a 50' ROW, the there is only 15' of swale on the sides. Your property line starts at the back of that 20 or 15' swale. Glad to help.

The discussion of ROW was how much of your front yard has a right away!

25 out of 29 (now 30) comments from the same 4 people. Hardly a representation of the City. And they're the core of the frequent whiners club! The LTE writer has called past Councils unfriendly toward business but are anti-business with this subject. Valerie, maybe we need a cheese emoji to go with all this whine!

Real truth - The right of way on most residential streets is 60 feet wide, with fewer streets at 50 feet, all somewhat centered on the asphalt center.

What about Gunter saying that the right of way on your property at the street was 31 feet! He wanted to extend it to 38 feet!!!

The Right of way at the front of your property is actually 25 feet from the middle of the street and 15 feet from the edge of the road!!!

They sure o spew a lot of inaccurate data from the Dais!

Shame on CM Gunter!!! He is suppose to be a contractor who should know this!!

Talking about Rules: What about "Freedom of Speech" and "Checks & Balances"? What was with Gunther's friends approaching the dais during the meeting to chat with him a few minutes. The meeting was in session! This was directly before Coviello called a recess break. Then we have CW Nelson continuing to call her colleagues & city personnel by their 1st names. "Bob" "John"! PLEEEEEZE! Perhaps a little PROFESSIONALISM needs to be implemented.

Carioscia is the single biggest bully that sits on the Dias!!

He cannot stand to be called out on his BAD behavior! Therefore he attempts to shut you down with a point of order!!

I NEVER mentioned his name not once! Think he kinda thin skinned!

What I said and how I said was totally within the Rules of the meeting!

The interesting part is that they can call you out by name with regards to your comments but citizens are not allowed to point things out said by a Councilmember or the Mayor. What a joke this crew is!

"When a citizen approaches the podium to express their sincere feelings regarding this matter let those people speak, because at times they become very passionate regarding the protection of our citizens as a whole." - YES, it appeared that a certain councilmen couldn't handle the truth last evening. There were no names mentioned, but there was NO mistaken who she was referring to & he couldn't handle it. Did his conscience get the best of him? If that wasn't an admission of quilt, I don't know what was. There was more than 1 person who spoke out about the extended bar hours last evening & they all had valid concerns.

"threw all their own money into a pot & hire their own independent security company" -- Why would they do this when our Mayor + council is only too willing to foot the bill. The Dixie Roadhouse received "the golden ticket". They got the extension they wanted, at no additional cost to themselves. Whoever said "You can't have your cake & eat it too"? Didn't you notice that Shelley from BackStreets never went on the news seeking this extension. It was only The Dixie. It appears that BackStreets didn't really care one way or the other. The campaign donations really paid off!

Since a few chosen bars in the CRA district have been granted extended hrs. of operation for 1 additional hr. on weekends and certain holidays.... it would be nice if they threw all their own money into a pot and hire their own independent security company. Then, if needed, a call to our Police Dept. can be made in the event of any emergency issue. The taxpayers of our City are now bearing the cost for their private protection, which is not at all appreciated. I do not believe that anyone wishes to take away what is claimed to be safe establishments in order to have fun, unwind, dance & to meet and greet. When a citizen approaches the podium to express their sincere feelings regarding this matter let those people speak, because at times they become very passionate regarding the protection of our citizens as a whole. And, most importantly, to stand up for the men & women who are hired to protect and serve. No more favors please for a certain few!

I believe that a small independently owned pharmacy will go above and beyond to help their customers. Some even have "free delivery". One downfall is that they also have limited hours of operation.

With regard to the chain pharmacies: There have been a large amount of independent pharmacies opening here in Cape Coral. The chains just might be feeling the pinch and shortening hours.

Fortherecord - I totally agree with you "This is why we have a high degree of voter apathy in our City. A good amount of the voting population just give up, because they feel their voice does not matter, as hard as they try." - I've heard the exact same. I've personally spoken with several ex-Cape Coral residents and their general consensus was "Cape Coral looks better in their rearview mirror". Like you said, people eventually get fed-up and leave. Our elected officials don't get it! They can't handle the power they were given. It immediately goes to their heads & they think "Who they are". They need a reality check.
