Keepingthemhonest - QUOTE "If we changed the city charter from voting at large to voting in the district you live in only for council, we would see some pattern changes in voting results" -- END QUOTE -- You are 100% correct. Individuals on council would NOT be reelected if/when they failed their individual districts. Currently, they get reelected through name recognition and/or union affiliation. This REALLY needs to be looked at and changed. Constituents should ONLY vote in their individual districts & for the mayoral slot.

Improving the downtown area will mean more business and dollars coming to the cape. That is a good thing in general. Lets hope that the final plan address the locals concerns. As a resident who lives in the N, I would like to see some of our needs handled as well. In 2012 $12 .2 million was spent to buy 7 islands . To date it still sits there .Like the S we need business as well. The city should be spending attention to all areas of our city. If we changed the city charter from voting at large to voting in the district you live in only for council , we would see some pattern changes in voting results, The city has become to large for at large voting. As more and more strategic thinking is needed as we build out its time to look at the charter and update it to todays reality.

Well, I will cross off 47th Terr from my shopping locations. Too bad, I liked to shop there. So when this council gets through I wonder how many businesses will still be open. What a bunch of idiots. File your bankruptcy papers early before the rush starts.
