Best practices, by all means

Amidst the hubbub at the joint workshop between City Council and the Cape Coral Charter School Authority, the point of Monday’s sitdown got lost....

Long time resident Wendy Blake said it best at Monday's council meeting. Our Mayor is using the pulpit as a "Sacrificial Alter". The members of The Charter School governing board did not deserve what was thrown at them at the Apr 24th COW meeting. There is no-doubt that our Mayor attended that meeting with a chip on her shoulder and an axe to grind. She experienced a melt-down when Erbrick called for order, silencing her. She is NOT used to not getting her own way & she unraveled. IMHO, Marni is unprofessional & immature and her actions were inexcusable. She should resign, but she will never give in. Watch for her nefarious actions in the next 6 months. I'm sure she will once again, be all over social media in the coming weeks. She loves the attention and the photo-ops.

. I did not know the author Carl Hiaasen was familiar with you for his description of Florida seems to ring true in so many ways, "The Sunshine State is a paradise of scandals teeming with drifters, deadbeats, and misfits drawn here by some dark primordial calling like demented trout, and you’d be surprised how many of them decide to run for public office." Moreover, when asked if it was still true, he remarked "Yeah, very true. More true than ever I think. The opportunities for corruption are many here, but the one thing about Florida politicians, the crooked ones that I still find somewhat heartwarming, is that they're not very sophisticated." While I will not go so far as to say you are corrupt, the question of your lack of sophistication, well…

I do not disagree with the theory expressed by many here, but were it not for the Mayor leading the charge I would suspect this was an example of one of the oldest political moves/game known to man; You create an issue knowing that you can be the hero by immediately solve the issue.

However, with Marni involved, I think not, as I am convinced she is not that politically savvy. While her self-image as a politician equates her to other notorious Democrats and requires her inclusion in the Democratic Party's Triumvirate of William "Boss" Tweed and Richard J. Daly, the only similarities I can detect is her unspoken use of a Daly quote as witnessed by her recent actions, "They have vilified me; they have crucified me; yes, they have even criticized me."

Yes, Marni, we have, and Marni you do not measure up. Sullivan was a one-trick-poney, but your legacy may rival other Democrats like Weiner, Foley and the opposition’s most recent poster child Robert Bentley.

"So why the sky-is-falling controversy?"

The answer to this is obvious to anyone who has been paying attention. Marni has a personal beef with the system due to a perceived slight to her friend. She is willing to burn everything to the ground to get her revenge.

Capecoral - Kudos to you. Extremely well stated. Also Kudos to CW Cosden for her composure during this entire ordeal. I must confess that I am pleasantly surprised with Cosden. I didn't vote for her as I had my doubts about her loyalty & feared she would be another "Rubber Stamp" (which we already have too many of) but she has proven herself as a council member who truly cares about this city. Unlike others seated on council, its not about her, it's for the best interest of the City. Good Job Cosden. Thank you.

The city under the direction of the mayor creates an artificial set of issues within the charter school system simply to creat an opportunity in which the city can takeover....why? For a personal vendetta against the high school principal and superintendent because they refused to play politics by not rehiring the city finance directors spouse. So if you demonstrate a backbone against the mayor she plays politics. Notice that the recommendations cover mostly financial practices? Again the spouse let go was the city finance directors spouse. thinks not.

At this time the city should slowly back out of this train wreck and let the school board and administration do what they need to do. Mr. City Manager please do not yield to the lowest common denominator and do the right thing and focus on the cities real problems.
