The season of celebration?

December 16, 2016

Ah, the holidays. Christmas. Hanukkah. And Festivus, the apparent choice of some this year, so inappropriately celebrated Monday night at City Council....

Congratulations Council member Erbrick for stepping up and throwing yourself in the arena for Mayor. Now I must ask, will you resign your seat in January so that other citizens of District five can run for the two years remaining for the district five council seat in November 2017. Or do you intend to retain your seat and play the oh well card. I am on council two more years either way requiring the whole council to appoint a district five representative if you should end up winning the mayoral seat. I guess this is your first test of ethics to show us what is more important, the Citizens or yourself. We all await your answer.

It's ridiculous that this was so accurate. For this to be an apt representation of how the city government is working in one of the largest cities in Florida is beyond embarrassing.

The Editorial is indeed spot on!

Marni is beyond repair for the job of Mayor! She needs to resign immediately!

Her personal escapades are an embarrassment and obviously she has no shame about it! Her escapades as Mayor are also shameful!

She is even unable to follow her own rule at Council meetings! Break her rules at council meetings and she has you thrown out of the meeting escorted by the CCPD! She even had a man on oxygen and in a wheelchair thrown out of the meeting for using the word "mayor"!!! How dare he!!!

Marni do the entire City a favor RESIGN and MOVE elsewhere!!!

Although the Oasis Charter School is a great school, there seems to be issues with neglect of students to get fair hearings and seriously, money needs to be accounted for and spent on student education not on "miscellaneous".

Two Editorials in one week that reveal the real Marni!

With all the media coverage of the real Marni, how much more will it take to convince her to resign and go somewhere else???

Thank you for your editorial. Sad but true.

PersonaIy, I would have labeled the activity of the past week something more like Tim Burton's movie "Nightmare Before Christmas." Certainly no merriment on my part from watching the Cape Coral Mayor's pre-Christmas drama unfold.

Thank you for the comments. Charter School issues should be discussed at their own board, not the Council of Cape Coral. The "supposed" promise issues pertaining to Charter Schools would be discussed at their own board. Oh well, failure number 1 to abide by the "rules". Our "civility and let's make nice when addressing the Council apparently has no meaning when the opposite happens. Failure number2. Civility on every form left the building months ago and now we have "open war fare". If"they are enjoying this on Council, then we have reduced our ability to govern. Happy Holidays. Try to ignore the instability of the "leader" of Council to conduct herself without the threat of retribution.

Happy Holidays. Enjoy the measured piece of no meetings until January. Hopefully the leader returns committed to the job.
