"Southwest Regional Manufacturing Association." Since this month Miss Marnie was downgraded from President to secretary. I guess the improper use of power was a bit too evident. *******srma****/board-of-directors/

They stopped caring about the citizens a long time ago and only look out for their friends. They all need to go.

The "non-partisan" elections need to come to an end and the elections need to be moved to the national election years so we can stop getting the low turnout and having a small number of people making our decisions for us.

What a complete group of clowns and incompetents. How did we elect this crooked corrupt group to manage this city. What a useless CM. They all need to go as soon as possible. Also a change needs to be made to the voting cycle so it is held on National election days to ensure turnout.

PoolGuy - In response to your question re: "SRMA" I found the following article posted on May 14th by daisyJune. - "Our Mayor allows too many sweetheart deals with the members of the other company she is PRESIDENT of. Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association, notice most of the chair people on this companies board have connections to business's in Cape Coral and Ft Myers. Why isn't any agency looking into this?"

Still don't know what "srma" is?

Cudos to the Breeze for this editorial. It is right on point. The voting at this "meeting" is a deception intended to circumvent the system and a violation of countless Council rules and possibly laws. Might this be a Sunshine Violation for everyone present? Where was the City Attorney? This is not the first time something like this has occured. Go back and review the events, lack of notice to the public, etc...of the emergency Council meeting held for the sole purpose of granting staff the authority to purchase the "Theiman" property which includes the 7 sisters islands among many others. Lots of funny business there. Ask someone who knows if you are not familiar.

Hey Journalists: Take a nice quiet evening and play connect the dots. What do the folks on this companies board have in common? Their "chairman" was appointed just after getting her Mayorship. Now all are at the trough. *******srma****/board-of-directors/

Council deserves all the perks they can create for themselves. They gave the government unions everything they have wanted so turn around is fair play.

Ms Harring and her newspaper endorsed everyone of the current council so they should look in the mirror before berating council for doing exactly what the Breeze endorsed. Spend, spend and spend some more. Good thing the Breeze organization prints the city Paper "On The Move", that 100k wasted is just to keep the Breeze on their side. Careful Ms. Harring, don't upset the hand that feeds you.

daisyJune, you don't need an investigative team to figure out that the media pushes sensationalist editorials like this to sell ad space.

I have lost my trust in this Cape Coral City Council. I do feel we need to bring in an investigative team from the State to get a clear picture of what is actually going on here.

I had respect for Valarie Harring before this editorial. This piece of Yellow Journalism is shameful to say the least. I know it's an opinion piece, but most people are ignorant of the difference nowadays.

The way this meeting was advertised and done, IMHO is very sneaky. Since when are votes done in a meeting such as this when there is taxpayer dollars being voted on to spend. One has to wonder what is going on behind closed doors now. How many times have issues been discussed in council offices or the conference room that we know nothing about.

Could very well be perceived as "sneaky". We deserve transparency when Tax Payers dollars are being used.
