To the editor: As a multi-year, year-round resident of the City of Cape Coral and a life-long citizen of the United States of America, I am disheartened by the fact that on May 2 I spoke on the phon......

Mr. Fellows, a Community Garden is a very noble & unique idea.

You should go to the City's Web Site, capecoral****. On the home page click on the Government heading. Under the drop down screen you will find, "Contacts", with the listings for all Departments. You should be able to find someone that can point you in the right direction. Parks has a substantial area of land available there, if it can feasibly pass legal muster. The pitfall I see would be the irrigation of the garden. Good Luck on your endeavor.

It is easier to forgive than permit. Start your garden. We have the right to feed ourselves without city approval.

So you write an LTE to complain? Before complaining, did you go down to City offices to talk to staff in the community development office? Did you attempt to contact the City Manager? Would you feel slighted if you didn't receive a response from the Comcast Board of Directors to find out how to obtain a credit on your bill for a service outage?

Try contacting Parks and Rec. They may have some suggestions to aim you in the right direction.

Call and get an appointment with any one of them to share your thoughts and then make your decision about how responsive they are. This is definitely not the venue to use.

1. You were not trying to make a campaign donation and 2. You were not part of the city workforce or a union member. Do not expect anything from this CM or Council and you will never be disappointed.

This city is such a train wreck they can’t keep up with all of the concerns. We are so lacking in competent leaders.
