Angel, Hurricane Katrina was the most expensive disasters that drained FEMA. By no stretch of the imagination would I call the residents of New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama rich. They received much much more than was ever paid in premiums. Many home owners here in our city are required to have flood insurance and they have modest homes not on the water.

Reality's ugly face - it”s what happens with "ADAPTATION" to sea level rise from AGW.

All of you denier conservatives - this is your worst nightmare. It’s the beginning of REAL big government.

Truth? Mitigation of climate change through keeping co2 below 450ppm would require far less government intrusion.

Taxes to cover increasing disaster recovery and relocation of the masses from coastal and river flood plains – oh boy!. Then there is Dustbowlification in America as those who don't have their heads in their back side know is happening in Africa. Someone coined the description of a future of “Hell and High Water.” “Ocean dead zones to expanding for thousands of years”, sea level rising way faster than IPCC predicted and may rise 6’ in next 86 years (.83 inch per year).

We could “mitigate” with solar (national feed in tariff would do it), but conservatives are selling out the planet to big oil. Denial is really going to cost those alive, my one year old grand babies.

Time for the beach dwellers to pay, no more subsidy for the rich who want to occupy the shorelines. No to insurance fraud on the regular folks to benefit the rich, let them pay, move, or sell.
