"Armed people are a free people" Tell that to the little girl who's dad was killed in a theater by a retired cop carrying a concealed weapon. Idiot

And, of course, we don't want any restrictions on people who have serious mental problems. Give 'em all guns! Agree again, NN. Maybe this letter writer needs to sit down for a heart to heart with someone who lost a loved one to inexplicable gun violence - like the family in Elkhart, IN tonight or the New Mexico school children a few days ago. How one can advocate for unfettered, unquestioned, unregulated gun ownership is beyond me.

Ray that's pretty obvious every time Poor Julie writes in. Bless her heart. Wonder what country she's talking about? To buy a legal gun in the US requires waiting periods, criminal background checks, Positive Id, etc.."we don't want any restrictions on people who have serious mental problems" Well PoorJulie, sorry we already do and in your serious condition I doubt you would be able to buy a gun in the USA. U wouldn't pass the background checks already in place. JOIN THE NRA TODAY IMPEACH-JAIL-REPEAL OBUMO 2014

"Fascism is the system of government that cartelizes the private sector, centrally plans the economy to subsidize producers, exalts the police state as the source of order, denies fundamental rights and liberties to individuals, and makes the executive state the unlimited master of society."

Numbnutz, why is it you never site examples of anyone who was SAVED because they owned and used a gun? Or are you going to claim that has never happened?

OTT, who was SAVED in the theater? The father of the little girl? The mother of the little girl? Good thing the little girl was home eh! Because of the laws here in Florida an unbalanced person was legally able to obtain a weapon and, worse yet, legally conceal it on his person while out in the general public. Yet somehow people like Kathy Jones and DOA think it is a good thing! I don’t. It is as simple as that. I do not believe that arming a bunch of nuts and allowing them to walk around with their weapons concealed protects anyone, Again, did it protect this little girl’s father?

Excellent article Ms. Jones. I do think u underestimate the current assault on our freedoms by King Bumo and crew and worse, the sheer blind ignorance of those that support him. Make no mistake that both obumo and clinton believe that we should not own any weapons at all. Just them. The latest total hack, joke Sec. of State, just signed UN documents and recently King Bumo issued two executive orders. Without a strong NRA we would have been WAY past any registration scheme by now and into full confiscation attempts by the lawless criminal in the White House, that now -operates outside our Constitution- supported by a 90% bought and sold Hollywood media, fully designed for the stupid. Obumo -IS- the very reason our forefathers wanted us all, to keep and bear arms. Lawless dictators like King Bumo were their greatest fear for the future of America. Dumnutz, Lets look at the facts instead of running screaming like a 12 year old girl. "Because of the laws here in Florida an unbalanced person was legally able to obtain a weapon" WRONG AGAIN. The facts are - a 71 year old retired decorated police offer shot a man. Mr. Reeves undoubtedly had a carry permit for decades as a former career cop. So much for ur unbalanced person was able to run into the nearest gun store theory nonsense. He shot a man for what ever reason and he will now pay a price as well as the victim. Ur problem is there are millions upon millions of responsible gun owners like myself that carry every day with -0- issues, that cant logically be condemned by the actions of a single person or a deranged school shooter. Actually crime continues to fall in Fl. due in large part to concealed carry permit holders. Join the NRA today and protect your right to protect yourself, family, and Constitution, from Bumo/Clinton.

janet99 I say unbalanced because (1) he had a gun in a theater. (2) He used that gun on an unarmed man texting his daughter on her birthday. Those are the only facts relevant. If you think that is balanced or , in your words, responsible, then you are just as nuts as he is and both should be institutionalized. I have NO problem with gun owners WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE. Just the nuts of which Florida has proven to have an over abundance of (i.e. DOA)

Actually, Mr DumbNutz here is your quote since u can't remember your own ramblings, "Because of the laws here in Florida an unbalanced person was legally able to obtain a weapon" That is simply not true, at all. Ownership of his weapon had NOTHING to do with Florida law, nor do u have any idea of his mental state, but from your ramblings we fully understand yours. Actually a man WAS NOT shot texting his daughter, at all, another lie by you, but in an altercation after the retired cop went to the theatre manager to complain about texting. After returning to his seat an altercation started resulting in a shooting. Please stop lying. I carry my gun everywhere, even in the movies. Wont do me much good at home with all the numbnutz out there these days. Join The NRA TODAY!STOP Obama and Clinton!

Janet99 you state “Ownership of his weapon had NOTHING to do with Florida law”. Really? Are you saying he was carrying a concealed weapon against the law? He was not charged with that! As far as his mental state is, you are right, I do not know of his mental condition. I do know the retired cop initially confronted the man he shot dead due to the man TEXTING his daughter. An unarmed man is dead, his wife also wounded and a little girl will grow up without her father due to a man carrying a gun in a theater. You seem to be saying that is OK to kill another human being under those circumstances. I say it takes someone who is not mentally stable. I just wish the people like this retired cop and the George Zimmermans of the world would meet and confront each other instead of killing unarmed people. They could remove themselves from the gene pool and the world would be a better place.

Dumbnutz, "Because of the laws here in Florida an unbalanced person was legally able to obtain a weapon" Your words. Again, that is simply not true. Nothing about concealed weapons? Its called READING COMPREHENSION, try it sometime! Actually, we (YOU) don't know what happened in the 2nd confrontation yet. "that is OK to kill another human being under those circumstances" lolol You really are challenged aren't you, how childish. The FACTS were Dear Travon was a drug dealer, an illegal gun dealer, and a street thug, that attacked Mr Z. He paid the price, stop trying to spin it.

Janet99 "Actually, we (YOU) don't know what happened in the 2nd confrontation" True! admittedly so! I do, however, comprehend fact and the facts are (1)a retired cop brought a gun into a theater. (2) initiated a confrontation. (3) killed and unarmed man. That's all I need to know to know it was wrong. As for your statement regarding Travon Martin it would be truely laughable if not for the fact that another unarmed person is dead due to the irresponsibility of another person carrying a gun.

Nutzy, I finally got you closer to the truth instead of your wild accusations about "Florida law". Good, you're growing. #1 and #3 I'll buy, but #2 You and I weren't there so "we" still have no solid info yet. Everyone lost that day to be sure. Street thug, Saint Travon attacked a much smaller man, struck the first blows, beat his head against the curb, broke his nose, and was trying to kill him. He paid the price. That is the final "fact." Seems like the court agreed no matter what you or our racist President wants us to believe. Don't attack people and you won't get shot. Time to let it go. England and Australia have no guns nutzy, I'll pay half your fare! I bet you have a gun or two nutzy, be honest and if you don't, you should. Ft Myers is like the Wild West with a bank robbery each week and with Obama's wide open boarder policy and drug cartels setting up shop in all USA cities, it's only going to get much much worse. Say NO to Obama-Join the NRA Tod
