Mathew, I can't say I feel much different toward the DNC. Wall Street and large corporations name the tune and the legislators hop to it.

There is an opportunity for individual homeowners and the middle class to stake out some sweat equity and independence with Solar Energy reaching grid parity, but I've no confidence Democrats would stand up to the FP$Ls and Duke Energies corrupting the PS Commission. I think it is a foregone conclusion they will protect the big utility's waste and incompetence by lowering the payback through net-metering.

The GOP is about redistributing wealth to the top 2%. When they aren't, they are protecting their gains by carving the flesh off the backsides of the middle class to afford their wars for oil and dealing with their ecological damage.

Neo-feudalism is a good descriptive name for them.

Just take a look around at the local GOP office holders & leadership: Hall-Indicted, Radel-Drug Addict, Lovejoy-Fugitive, etc. Need anyone say more?

It is refreshing to see young people get involved with the political process that by design is our legacy from the founding fathers. But to wrap ones arms around the document that was written in the 18th century and proclaim those words to be all there is to subscribe to our present and future is a failure to understand what our founding fathers really thought and feared what wasn't written. An exhaustive study of the vast writings of the leaders of that time would show that even they didn't agree with every word. Banking, taxes, foreign trade and slavery were no less subjects of contention then than they are now. If you hold that any part of that document is subject to change (3/5's of a person is the measure of each slave) then all of the document must be thought dynamic, not just what fits one's cause or reasoning. Just as we know there is no way for our founding fathers to foresee what the country would face in the future we too must realize that the needs and wants in our future

-will change to meet their expectations. The principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness can endure, but only if we understand what we know and don't know. Nobody learns to walk without the falls but knowing we must right ourselves again to continue forward is what makes each and every one of us special.

matt... you are entitled to your opinion just as the others. doesn't make you right..are you a homeowner? are you a tax payer? having to overcome the lies and misconceptions put out by the teaparty rags, over the last 4 years has hardened lots of citizens.Shutting down the US Govt has caused hardships to everyday folks that is still being felt months later. Curious why your letter forget to mention that disaster. 2014 will bring about change that's a promise!

First yes i was the secretary for the young republicans which means i was a republican as i could not have held that title if i was registered lp. i have no idea who you are but maybe you should check your facts i have many times described myself as a "small l" libertarian in the past which means a republican that leans libertarian.

I personally have filed this "resignation from party" and the "information" about the writer's party preference now and his views under gone. Move on. As we all should. Make our decisions, and move on. It is today's way of showing independence. Have a wonderful year.
