The only voters to benefit from no representation from District 19 are the other Florida Districts and the other districts in the rest of the country.

Pathetic Julie. More of what we do not need illogical thought!

I sure messed up the clarity in my post. I want to be clear.

CapeCoralCuestions, If it was some working-poor mother that drug tested positive (per Radel's vote) she'd lose food from her table.

It's the double standard that irks me.

Another example is Republican (in Florida) & Democrat Crony capitalism. The amount they want to cut out the safety net equals $125,000 per person. Guess how much each job cost Florida for the $85,000,000 for the 700 jobs they create (bring [TO] Florida from NJ via Hertz) in Florida?

They are both “redistribution of wealth”, but Conservatives are in denial.

The former is Robin Hood like and the latter reverse Robin Hood.

Missed 9 votes on 9 bills in one week.

No legislation happening in district 19.

Given the current state of affairs, both here and in DC, maybe, just maybe, we're better off with NO representation. I mean, really, what kind of representing was Radel doing? Take a look at his voting record. Consider the fact that his staff has made a run for the door. Remember that he was busy, not representing, but making arrangements for his next fix. Are we really that much worse off? Hopefully, we've learned our lesson and will elect someone in 11 months who truly wants to do the job for us.

The real question...right now....what representation does SW Fla.have right now??? None. Staff is "answering and handling the incoming". Oh well...How many more letters, opinions, etc. do we need on this situation to realize, we control NOTHING. Our opinions, just opinions. Empty seat means no vote. Tragic.

In DC what Mr. Radel did was a misdemeanor. In other jurisdictions just a mile away it would be a felony. M.r Radel broke the law and admitted this fact. Had he cheated on his wife or said something stupid in the media, I’d be willing to say he made a mistake and didn’t break the law. If that were the case I’d say let’s give him another chance. But this is not the case. When he committed this crime he knew what he was doing was wrong. Yes, he embarrassed himself, his family and all of SWFL, but anything short of his resignation will not be enough for him to accept full responsibility for his actions. He owes this to SWFL and he owes it to his family. At least he can tell his son I did wrong, but I took responsibility and did the right thing.

Art, ever heard the phrase "biting off your nose to spite your face"? If Radel does not return to Washington, this area will have NO representation in DC for the next YEAR! That's a known fact. He has shamed himself and his family, he has ruined his name and reputation, he will have to explain himself to his son when he's older, Radel is the subject of late-night jokes and editorial cartoons, he will not be re-elected. He was arrested for a misdemeanor. How much "being held accountable" will be enough for you?
