One year anniversary of the of the new CRA

November 15, 2013

To the editor: Let’s start off by dismissing the myth that the CRA was reorganized for a lack of funds. The reason was personal and politically motivated....

I have an even better question for you Lou?, what happened to the 20 years of funds that the CRA collected prior to being disbanded and taken over? Good question huh?, and one no one from the previous CRA seems capable of answering. All the CRA did was commission pretty concepts on presentation boards.....for 20 freaking years!!! It's about time the party was brought to a halt. It was nothing more that a personal piggy bank for those in the inner circle down town.

Instead of asking questions to the LTE, go to a meeting and ask...oh, you did and got answers you didn't like or agree with, sooooo here you go with LTE. Makes sense to you, I guess. Yes, if people don't do it your way or the way you think it should be done, SMEAR! THE RAG WAY!

$20 years of funds?

They bought some plans a few times.

They put in some pavers.

They beautified the roadways with mahogany trees that they had to cut down. It seems the city did poor study. Because the root systems are shallow and the sidewalks put in are now being replaced AGAIN. They advertised block parties to enhance the area and introduce residents to the businesses there. They paid out a lot of dollars on salaries for a director they received little for. They spent huge amount of man hours looking a development renditions of Key West themes to European city themes that changed 3 times. They put in a trolley route. They talked about a parking garage after residents were towed at evening events put on by the city.

Hey! What do you want for 17 years of tax dollars poorly managed and spent!

Besides where can you get a $100,000 director that was supervisor for a catalog store. Sort of tells you there was no plan for CRA!

Hey Lou...Our New "CRA Advisory Board" will make the Difference for the Downtown Area.. why did you move out of the CRA with your doggy business? So, why are you writing this mis-informed letter? Weren't YOU one of the commissioners from the old CRA board and may be wanting to cause problems for our newly elected board. hmmmmm...

I watched the jokers on Cape Tv with my good now gone buddy Marty McClain presiding as councilman for the city. (He was Away Without Leave there too!) Big John (not the statue) nervously speaking in tongues. Meeting went on for 2 hours covered nearly nothing accomplished definitely nothing! How many years was Jacobsen in that director role? Besides way too long. I bet I could have scored my own Granger catalog for FREE!

But now we've got a new mayor and a couple new council members and everything should be just peachy-keen! The CRA and the UEP and all those letter thingys will be straightened out and take off. Property values will skyrocket, we'll have plenty of tax money, the stars will shine in the sky!

Unfortunately, I hear tell the new mayor is going to re-investigate the Fire Chief friend-hiring allegations. Maybe she should look into the hinky things that happened when the City Clerk was hired a couple years ago as well (something about a college degree or the lack thereof). As for me, I'm thinking the more things change, the more they stay the same.
