McGrail says thanks

November 15, 2013

To the editor: Thanks seems like such a small word for all the experiences I have had as your Cape Coral councilman from District 6. 8,000-plus voters supported me in 2009, 7,000-plus in 201....

Yes I do want them all to leave with nothing. You think I support Sullivan or Leetz or any of them. They have all failed us.

You are right. We all count. Together. So may I humbly suggest that we discontinue trying to "punish" anyone for what is personal to each of us. Veterans are in my family since I was very young, continuing today. I understand what Veterans have done for us and continue to do for us. Some of us quietly support, others step to the plate and do it in public. I do understand, but we, all of us, need to start looking at the whole picture when we "support" or "decide not to support" anyone. It really should never be just one issue. But, hey, we are all human. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for your continued service.

Lolita: Contrary to your statement about people serving the city, or not. All residents matter. Not just the ones who step up to use their time for different committees that aren't listened to. Kevin shot himself in the foot with his statement during the PST and FSA talks, when he was heard to state that disabled Veterans get enough breaks. That was after that issue was brought up by Leetz and also my email to the entire council. If he claims to support Veterans. Where was he all these years at different Veterans events that were attended by the Mayor and very few council members? I also have a problem with Kevin's letter. Since when was the city council his council? That shows his arrogance. I will admit that he did do some good for those he served in the North Cape as did others on council for their districts.

Unless "they" have served, tried to serve, or even care about what is really happening here in this City, "they" don't really matter. Thanks for trying to do it all. It is appreciated by those who understand what a difficult job it is to be in the"limelight" trying. Much success in whatever you future endeavors are. Life does go on after Council.

JJSully: Is that the same insurance slush fund and plaque that Mumbles and leest are going to get? That Dillie and Babes Brand get? Do you want them treated the same way you're treating McClain and McGrail?

Kevin, thank you for all you have done for the north and all the citizens of Cape Coral. There are many things you have done for the children and elderly in this town which only your friends and family know about because your kindness and charity goes unmentioned. You are a gentleman and a statesman and we were lucky to have you on the dais. The ugly comments below are just an example of the nastiness you have had to endure and a reminder of the hateful people that are the RAGs. God bless you and your family.

Kevin, It's amazing how some of these anonymous idiots won't let go. Thank you for your service to the city. Although I didn't agree with you on some issues, you worked very hard and did a good job for us. Enjoy your year off and good luck on your run for Sharon's seat.
