A people’s tax

November 7, 2013

To the editor: Oh yeah! There is such a thing. We’re use to seeing our tax money being thrown at owners of sports teams and corporations like Hertz (only hiring janitorial staff)....

Lightswitch – I can think of one way to avoid the predatory government harvest of the citizen’s taxes via your electric bill. I intend to do just that.

Here’s how you do it:

Your electric bill and taxes are based on the kwh of electricity you consume. REDUCE THEM!!! If you must, you can borrow the money to have installed on your “SOUTH FACING” roof the appropriate number of Solar panels to essentially eliminate all those offending kwhs (your electric bill).

With the current 30% “Income Tax Credit” (it comes off your final tax total) you will have paid off your electric bill replacement (8 – 10yrs) and have free electric for the next 30yrs. There will be no more electric rate or tax increases for you. Read about (Google) “Net Metering in Florida.” Until or unless, our local politicians get off the utility campaign money drug and set up a “Feed-in-tariff” net metering is still a good deal.

Be concerned that the city of Cape Coral, Fl has dipped into the Capital Credit each and every electric account holder has with Lee County Electric Cooperative.

Checks until 2 plus years ago were sent out to the account holder. Now the money just accumulates in LCEC. They city now charges you the 7% per kilowatt hour. Thus they have created a new revenue stream of your money while the city can continue negligently borrowing. Circumventing the states 10 mil cap on real estate tax. This tax needs to be rescinded!

Thanks Anti I knew someone would come out and explain all the solar energy talk. It is being explored all over the world. Guess CC has to wait. Sully & Co. are suing now re: the TV report tonight and Leetz invited the FBI to investigate the land deals. Think they would have been doing all this if they were re-elected. I look forward to more info on the solar, but...if we keep at this bringing the City down, no one will come here except trash companies to pick up the pieces.

Google – “Solar Revolution comes to Gainesville” - read some of the reports for a heads up. “The Who’s Who of the most successful are investing billions in corporate ownership and using it to replace the electricity produced by the utility industry. Some are Costco, Kohl's, Apple, IKEA, Google, Macy's, Johnson & Johnson, McGraw Hill, Staples, Campbell's Soup, U.S. Foods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kaiser Permanente, Volkswagen, Walgreens, WalMart, Lowes, Target, Safeway, FedEx, Intel, L'OREAL, General Motors, Toys "R" Us, White Rose Foods, Toyota, and Dow Jones & Company. Solar is not so easy to push around now.” *******tinyurl****/n3ghnrn

The veteran’s administration and military have set goals producing ½ their own power. I volunteer to help the vets a couple of days per month and Bay Pines is covering massive parking lots and all the roofs that are flat. It’s shame for the third most suitable state to be so far behind in this technology.

Well...Still reads like a "new program" for energy, which may or may not be good I'll wait for the "formal presentation". I'm sure it's not far off. By the way, I do keep up with the "energy" programs.

Lolita, I haven't heard about a "solar club". No marketing here. I'm just a concerned citizen.

But, if you're interested in some facts read this and see what is happening to the utilities since Solar is on the march. It is simple more cost effective. ***********eei****/ourissues/finance/Documents/disruptivechallenges.pdf

Anyone else pick up on the new "solar club" being talked about here? Interesting that these same writers were touting others for office, etc. now it is solar. I guess that's marketing 101.

Just heard the news, Lee Commission and the state are cooking up another secret give away of our tax dollars under the guise of bringing jobs (a corporation). They must move faster on this one. The word (back pages) is out on the Hertz $85,000,000 quid pro quo gift. Virtually all the jobs are from bringing their own people from NJ. Guess Gov Scott needs more stuffing of his campaign coffers under the Crist threat.

Not only are they given a "special" welcome, they add their weight to our life raft. Our taxes will have to raised or services reduced to pay for the deficit their arrival will cause. It’s like being the one everyone likes to visit for a free ride vacation. Only these free loaders will never leave.

One last: Ask yourself if “expanding the tax base” has controlled or reduced taxes.

Let Lee Co. and the State Republican Corporatists engage in their corruption.

Cape Coral has the political profile to shed the Republican slime and inspire home owners and small businesses to make a move toward energy independence and creating a positive cash flow, while freezing the rise in Electric Utility rates because they don't need to beef up the grid (just as inefficient as urban sprawl).

This could be really big with a moderate effort by Cape officials. If the Cape did this they’d become the distribution and finance of the Solar hub for all of Lee.

Return our tax dollars to us and we’ll spend it and profit from it locally.
