Council Member Leon...We take great pride knowing you will be bringing honesty and integrity back to District 4. Make your decisions after totally researching. Your family should be proud you stepped to the plate when others know only throwing barbs. Ignore them.

Terrygolf1313, you will see. Richard is for all the people. I'm not non union, and I donated to his campaign. Quick being such a Richard cranium. I mean honestly, can you possible accomplish this?

Terrygulf.... Please take a moment to enlighten us. The candidate received 10,000 plus votes there roughly 2500 city employees including the charter schools. Take the Charter schools out of the picture. Now you have roughly 1500 to 1800 city employees. Take part time employees out of the picture. Now you have to look at a small number of non bargaining unit employees and pull them out. That would leave us with roughly 1500 union employees. How is it that 1500 employees "bought" a candidate? The candidate Slaughtered Leetz with over 10,000 votes.

Now... Let's look at the total numbers again. The Last semi respectable population numbers I heard in Cape Coral was approx 160,000 people. Because the City has union employees lets do the Fox News thing and call the number a conspiracy put out by the unions. Let's assume that the real population number is 130,000 people. Based on a population of 130000 that makes total city employees at slightly less than 2% of the total population

Cont. for Terrygulf.... That would also include the Charter Schools. Less than 2%, how is it that less than 2% of the people bought the majority of the election. Again, please enlighten us Terry. Especially when this town holds brilliant men and women such as the RAGS. Is it possible that a proper democratic vote took place and one candidate beat the other? Hence, more folks wanted forward progress than those who don't.

Please Terrygulf.... Do tell... Perhaps John Galt could help, maybe dimwit will chime in. Teach us something....

People were voting against Leetz not for Leon for the most part. This race had two terrible options. Leetz sunk his own ship with his mouth. Even though I thought Leetz was the lesser of the two evils he was not a good councilmember other than being against new taxes. Leon seemed clueless in the debates but I am sure he will just follow the majority along. Council is so lob sided now it really doesn’t matter.

Why is it that those who choose to not run for anything, but insist on tainting, smashing, etc. in every direction. The people have spoken. They have chosen, whatever their reasons. Council Member Elect Leon is now tasked with policy making for our City. Stop with the name calling, etc. and let's help our officials, not throw obstacles in their way.

Only time will tell what kind of representative he will be. I won't make any assumptions as to how he will be for his district until a bit of time has passed. Give him and the other newbies a chance.

Grumpy:

OK that's a little better. Y'all thought Leetz was the answer to your prayers. Not. It backfired. So....let's wait, watch and just maybe help them all along instead of instant bashing.

Leon will do fine. He will do his homework, then make well informed decisions from the dais.He will represent the citizens in Dist 4,in a positive manner and the turn out for his townhall meetings will be well attended, due to the outreach Richard has been doing for some time. Grumpy, isn't it time to move forward and encourage our new councilmembers. Like it or Not they are representatives for cape coral !

TerryG, this is a right to work state. Unions don't have the power that you credit them for here in Florida.

Unions have plenty of power especially within a monopoly like a local municipal government!

Just remember while fears were being exaggerated nationally and locally. municipal, county, state and federal labor contracts were being crafted that no sane company, partnership or corporation would have embraced. If this is BS why are the cities, counties and most states in the economic dilemma that exists today? The information is by way of more than one think tank that is trying to unravel the government predicament.

Yes LS, we must crush those minimum wage paid janitors that work at city hall. How dare they try to go out to eat at McDonalds for a night out!!
