"We have a regular think tank running this city and it is not the SLICK SIX or their HAT RACK BOY city manager either!"

LOL, really? You need to raise your standards for your definition of a 'think tank'. OMG, thank you for the laugh today. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Therefore as the valuations go up (your words) 7.13% shows the electric utility tax was not warranted and the fire assessment tax as well. NOT WARRANTED!

We watched the council last night impede GROWTH of an ice cube vendor and an end destination reason to come to this city.

You can't just lay the blame Sullivan and Leetz for that one! I stated before I rarely agree with McGrail but for him not to receive a second over paddlers disrupting that lake was beyond dumb! THE ISSUE ON MANUFACTURING ICE CUBES or what it was A VENDING MACHINE facility! Really dumb. Knowing the people in this city recycled $850,000 for this city shows if a lightbulb lit on the council to put a recycling dumpster out the cardboard, plastic and aluminum would go in it to add to that $850,000. That business would generate less litter than most businesses in this city. Probably what troubles me more is the stinking ice is made from the EXCESS water and COST of a water plant!

As the valuations go up, so go the taxes, thought you already knew that. So....prosperity will cost us...think you know that...hope for you would be bankrupt to occur. Last night's meeting...hope you were watching it. The helm was empty in the center of the dais. No control... Have a wonderful day.

October utility tax does not reflect a true annualized amount of TAX from that bill. I calculated last 12 months and it will cost me about $125 for year extra. Now take that TAX and add it to the real estate tax, the $190 estimate this city sent me add that to the real estate tax. It does not take a mathematician or a person with modest math skill to see the millage rate is not 7.70 percent when these other taxes are factored into the equation. McGrail has fostered nothing but deception during his term as a city councilman.

Marni Sawicki likes to tax people but she did not pay her income taxes from 2009 in Aurora Ohio and they had to get a judgement against her in August of 2012. She still did not pay it until October 17,2013. Oh I know the excuse was that she never got the mail. Gee that was my accountants fault, Gee I was going thru a divorce. They sent the legal papers and notice of the judgement to the same address as is on all her Election papers as Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested! The only problem was she never accepted the mail! Yes it is true as I have all the Court papers as proof! What a joke!

Don't blame the rest of us for YOUR laziness "Hanging in there". It is nobody's fault but your own if you refuse to change your thermostat, open your windows, hang your clothes on a line, end the use of TV in every room, light up your house inside and out like a castle very night. The new tax cost me and my friends between $6 and $9.

Everyone have their tax bill? Keep in mind "the cost of a pizza" McGrail the LYING pot belly pig! I apologize to the pigs and their pet owners for using them to describe this councilman. He has shown his credibility and truthfulness. Hopefully he is out of the picture when the sign deal comes around with LAMMAR INDUSTRIES sign and bus shelter manufacturer. Watch McGrail Media, Inc. a family affair with the city. VOTE THIS GUY OUT!

Gary do not fight it in payment today. Vote the scum bag McGrail, out he put this and the fire assessment through,

The next election is 2015 the city backed council members fall off for term limit or come up for reelection.

Vote Carioscia. Erbrick, Nestor, McClain (self destructed), Donnell (turns into a pumpkin due to term limit), and cover his butt Szerlag will go on his own accord. McGrail I already addressed as a VOTE THE PIG out!

jr4623 did you doubt for an instant that the city would LIE.

YOU SEE SULLIVAN AND LEETZ WERE THE ONLY TWO WHO WENT TO THE AID OF RESIDENTS AND CARED IF THEY KEEP THEIR HOMES AND LEFT THEM WITH EXPENDABLE INCOME.

CITY EMPLOYEES RECEIVED A REDUCTION IN MEDICAL INSURANCE< A 5% BONUS.

TELL US WHAT DID YOU RECEIVE jr4623?

How about giving them a accounting headache, add, say 7 cents more on the bill, thus causing a over payment and giving a credit for the next bill! Change the over payment monthly, then short the payment a few cents once in a while. Should be interesting!!!

Yes, I agree with Packer. Don't pay that portion, but I would invest in candles, etc. until you can pay to get your lights back on. At least it is starting to cool off and we can open the windows now.

These new taxes were needed to free up money to pay pensions for the unions. The pension liability keeps climbing and additional funds had to be found. Do not be fooled by the capital improvements. the CM and his band of liars cannot be trusted. Take a look at who is suing the citizens for their Fire Tax. That will be money going straight into the unions pocket. Thank you tax payers, make sure you hug your fire hero today. Suckers.

These are all very good questions! LCEC is required by law to collect the public service tax for the City of Cape Coral and does not receive any compensation for the collection, accounting or administration of the tax. These costs are part of the cost of doing business which is passed along to customers through electric rates (which LCEC has not raised in 5 years!). Unfortunately, the time for protesting this tax has passed because City Council has already approved the tax. If the tax is not paid as part of the electric bill the severance process will begin which means a late fee will be imposed and electric service will eventually be disconnected if the balance is not paid. LCEC is accountable for remitting a certain amount of collected taxes to the City each period so collecting the applicable taxes prevents the cost from being passed along to other customers. LCEC is not charging the City a bookkeeping fee and does not wish to be a tax collector but it is required by law.
