The only "slick six" I know of are Sullivan, Leetz, Deile, Brant, Keuhn, and King! They made this city a laughing stock around the state and nearly destroyed our chances of being in position to move when things began to improve. Four years and not one solution for new revenue, except Leetz's illegal attempt to extort money from lot owners in the south Cape. HAD ENOUGH YET? I have.

Boy oh Boy!! If I were that unhappy here I would pack up and move. Because, as we all know the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence. Particularly, for the miserable and bitter folks that can never be satisfied. Real estate is up so let's not use that lame excuse... Time to pack!! HOPEFULLY... We can rename the fab 5 the Former failures and they too may pack up and go!!

Cape questions look around the USA moron and talk, visit and see the SCAM this city has perpetrated over so many years. North, East, and West town, cities all size have gone through the same things but managed much better than Cape Coral. Those towns and cities cut personnel when it was necessary and are still doing it today. The party is over and the cleanup may happen late but it will happen. See you in court. Big day coming Oct7th as the city sues all its residents to end run all the checks on overspending and mismanagement.

Litwitch, you are either hugely ignorant or a bald faced liar. Which is it? That lowly 5% bonus was to try and make up for the thousands that this city demand workers give back in the last 6 years. And that small bonus is a one time payout, so to compare it to city rate increase is apples and carrots. But you know that. What was it: legally binding contracted raises yearly 3%, then2% and for some another 2%, compounded--all graciously given up. increase in health costs with a decrease in services, increase in pension contribution to 10% with decrease in payout. You also are aware how balancing a budget works and are claiming things you know will change when all the final diversification options are in place. But hey—don’t let the facts get in your way.

“This city is a disgrace.” What has blackened the name of this city is the Road Ahead Gang (a clueless oxymoron for them to choose). A disgrace is the behavior of Leest on the dais and Sully falling asleep at public meetings. or Sully refusing to interact with County Commissioners and Sully refusing to attend TWO recent Okeechobee Pollution meetings to represent our 150,000 citizens. A disgrace is having to send the police to his home to wake him up because he was sleeping through an important city meeting! A disgrace is Sully frequently arriving so late for ceremonies that council members had to step in and proceed without him. And, Litwitch, YOU are a disgrace. Please crawl back into your swamp.

Our two incumbents, Sully and Leetz cannot even present their cases, whatever it is, without mentioning those in need. Take a look at the lee county tax role. Neither pays much at all. They are in the 42% who pay under $500.00, way under, taxes. Guess that's why they don't want to be called incumbents.

The Slick Six and their city manager put out first at 2 point cut in millage rate. Then 5 days later 1 point reduction. Then ZERO reduction. Then we end up with a 1/4 of a point reduction after they realized the residents were not going to vote any of the Slick Six in again. By the way the 5% bonus for police fire and city staff accounts for more than the real estate tax increase alone. This battle is far from over and in 2015 you will see most of the Slick Six retired but not due to term limits. THE residents are on to you all. What a disgrace this city is.

Mr. Hopgood: Your comments on Sullivan and Leetz are right on. Time for them to leave. Their votes last night on the millage rate, etc. are typical cop outs, especially the explanation by Sullivan. Guess, until last night, they had no knowledge about the roll back rate. Time to go fellas.

So Mr. Hopgood you can take that "sour taste in my mouth" with a glass of water and consider yourself enlightened.

I have the upmost respect for Mr. Burch. I hope the question about your uneasiness with Jim has been satisfied. With his election, we have one more positive step toward bringing the City of Cape Coral to the place of S.W. leadership we deserve.

Mr. Burch is by far the best qualified candidate for the District 1 Council seat. Mr. Hopgood to clarify your remark, "Certainly the best candidate for District 1 but you left a sour taste in my mouth when you abstained from voting on UEP matters." Consider the atmosphere on council at that time. Jim was the councilman chosen by his peers to fill the seat left vacant by "mayor" Eric Feichthaler when he ran for County Commissioner. The atmosphere at the time was VERY adversarial towards SW 6&7 UEP. Sullivan was drumming up as much support against it as he AND his cohorts (read Deile/Brandt) could muster. People with signs in council chambers, rally's at the front doors, loud outburst IN Chambers, etc. That crap wouldn't fly today. Deile, his wife, Sullivan & one other party had a LAWSUIT against the City over the UEP. Jim took the honorable road (his survey business had done work North of P.I. road)and abstained due to the POTENTIAL conflict of interest.
