Senseless: You don't have to prove anything to me or anyone else, with the exception that you have proven to be someone who throws out numbers, and then rails with profane language and innuendo because he/she can't provide the facts or is not ale to provide them. Sticks and stones kiddo. Go back into your cave.

It looks like the county commissioners found a way to get by without raising taxes. It would be nice if the Cape Coral City Council could comprehend that our budget is as tight as theirs. They should put more effort in running the city with the money they get on the first grab rather then try to get into our pockets a 2nd and 3rd time. I guess that would require thought, effort, and work. Since this council does not have that capability maybe we can find a few that can do a better job after the election. Do your research and VOTE!

Here we go again. The old threat about the very large group of taxpayers who are going to sue. As it gets closer and closer and they watch their candidates floundering the threats are thrown all over. Never seems to change. Those have don't want to share. Talk about double dippers.

JohnGalt, you didn't answer the question. What is your threshold defining someone who is "rich"?

1Sandy it may not happen period if Olive & Popeye Legal Beagle Law Firm can't get it past a judge in court!

There are even question as to the legality of this hokus pokus action. There may be an appeal filed against the city by a very large group of taxpayers. It ain't over baby it is just beginning!

The fire tax can't be repealed with this election. 4 of the supporters of the tax will still be on Council and if 4 anti fire fee candidates get elected, 5 votes would be needed to repeal it. So it will be in effect for at least 2 years. Don't the RAGs know anything?

According to a recent Bankrate**** survey: • 76% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck • 27% of American have no savings at all • 46% of Americans have less than $800 in savings • The largest employer is Walmart & the second is Kelly Services(Temp. agency) • And of course, foodstamps, foodstamps, foodstamps and the nearly 50 million poverty-level Americans who need them to survive (half of them have some kind of job)

CLASS WARFARE!! All the RAG posters have a common theme: blame the 1,200 city workers (not all are IN a union---this is a Right-To-Work State). Are RAGs suggesting that those 1,200 workers should support the 165,000 city? The oath “To Protect and Serve” or term “Public Servant” does NOT mean a lower class or servitude. We no longer have a ‘Servant Class’ in this country, or indentured servants, and Lincoln freed the slaves. Having a boat-load of money does NOT entitle RAGs to threaten, belittle, menace, and condemn their fellow citizens! Now we have people claiming that THEY are the judge of how much and when our employees should be paid! Shame on YOU, RAGs!!! Thank you Arnold, the problem is that this is the pay back from the Slick Six for getting them into office. This tax has nothing to do with fire response, it is to ensure there is a pot of money for raises for a lay about group of city workers. Not to fear, it will be repealed.

You're wrong Arnie, most other Florida cities our size have similar budgetary tools to manage their communities budgets.

Packer: Why should any of us expect the likes of those who sling false information in order to try to gain ground, share the "truth". They wouldn't acknowledge the "truth" if their lives depend on it. Oh....guess their political lives do depend on "sharing" false innuendo in order to destroy. Don't even pay attention to them. By the way Uncommon sense, I don't like you either.

@commonsense: Unions in this City had valid contracts, agreed to forego and give up the raises they were due AND take PAY CUTS three years in a row! FACT. The Unions are paying more for their healthcare with fewer benefits and paying 10% into pensions. They have given back increases for training and certifications. There is virtually NO overtime. What more do you want? Their first-born child? HAVE YOU NO SHAME??

MrCommonSense, after reading all your comments regarding union raises, perks etc I decided to do some research. Here's what I discovered; city employees have had 2 pay cuts and a pay freeze for the last 5 years,(no increases at all). They have also increased their contributions into the pension fund twice over the same 5 years. This is a matter of public record. So, tell me where they are fattening up? I found this out in one hour, so you are either lying through your teeth, or are simply oblivious to the real situation. Please explain. Oh, you too TerryGolf1313.
