Oh Switch....You were doing so well with all of your explanations, although you left out all of the new County taxes flying over the bridges to us which the landlord will pass on, and then you call everyone who has an opinion a MORON. Forget your whole explanation. Doesn't mean a thing.

I have toi laugh at the question, Do you pay real estate Taxes?

Why in Cape CXoral, Fl. if he rents he pays Storm water tax through his RENT. He pays a Utility Tax as of Oct 1, 2013 directly to run the city from his kilowatt hours used. He pays a Fire Assessment his landlord receives and increases his rent. He pays for the large increase in Real Estate taxes coming this year by the increase in valuation of the landlord's property. Ergo he more than pays Real Estate Taxes. I do not even know this person yet but I will before I vote. What I do know is there are some real MORONS on this site who don't know JACK and haven't the brains to get out of the rain. I am also betting this guy is not getting a 5% bonus from his private sector job to more than pay his REAL ESTATE TAXES. YOU MORONS!

If the letter writer is "worried" maybe its time to consider moving to ft myers or north ft myers, that way they wont have to be involved in the politics of Cape Coral

Mr. CommonSense, who ever said I support unions? I did not say that. Also, you posted "there are 160k people living in the Cape, it's SAFE to say that more than 1/2 of them are NOT union/city workers or retired". This is true but based on your other posts you also mentioned "special interest groups", as well as commenting on those who have their jobs, etc. Therefore, a "special interest group" could be any "group" that you do not agree with. Also, I was not arguing. I was posting a comment based on your posting. And by the way, I know that if more than 16% of registered voters showed up to vote we would have a council that reflected what the citizens want. However, that does not mean the council would necessarily be the council you think should be in place. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and not to be called names and attacked over their comments. Your postings are quite childish, if nothing else.

Hey Mr. Commonsense, just who is the "average joe" or "average citizen" you keep referring to? Based on your comments, they cannot be city employees, union supporters, anyone that has a job, the retired citizens, anyone who belongs to any type of club. Who does that leave? You?

28 years old and STILL a student? And now you want to be my Councilman in the 1st District? Do you think that there might not be enough of life's experience for you to handle the job? I DO!

I'm not asking for much; given the fact that Mumbles couldn't remember (or didn't care) whether his mike was on or off, a mayor who could control the mike (and his disgusting mouth) would be a refreshing change.

The only thing Burch did was to raise your taxes 93%. Useless and unqualified. Remember he was voted out after two years. Never again will I waste a vote on this Burch loser.

CCC, your comments are consistent with what attitude I hope to annihilate from this city and if these questions are what identifies a leader for you I hope you might reconsider your formula. Though none of the following, as mentioned before and my fashion sense, are qualifications to run for this office - I will answer. No the taxpayers are not going to pay for my education more than they already do with what grants and loans I receive from the federal government. They will only ever pay .17 cents per elector as stated in the city charter. My fiance owns the home where we live and yes real estate taxes are paid. As far as committees, I more resemble the other 89% of the city who did't vote in the last election in that I belong to none. It is my aim to increase the voter turnout during my term if elected because the previous rate is abysmal and does not serve the city's best interest. I hope I answered some of your questions let me know if you have more - I'm not going anywhere.

Do you pay real estate taxes? Are you a veteran? Do you still live with your parents? What is your source of income? What is with these questions? None of these things have anything to do with running for public office. Besides that, they are all questions about someone's personal life that are not required for public office. Many are not Veterans and that should not play into voting for anyone. Not paying real estate taxes doesn't mean that the person can't represent the taxpayers either. A candidates living arrangements and source of income, are actually nobody's business.

Well, Morris you came across at the Yacht Club as a 'know nothing'. Stop humiliating your parents and drop out--it's the decent thing to do. Are Cape citizens now to pay to put you through college? What is your college QPA? We need a leader buddy, not someone on the dole looking for a quick buck!We have had enough On-The-Job-Training—witness Gary King, Martin and Toler, Sullivan Leest and Kuhnt! You are an embarrassment! You didn't even know enough to dress properly! ANSWER THE QUESTIONS! Do you pay real estate taxes? Name the City government committees that you have volunteered for? Are you a veteran? Do you still live with your parents? What is your source of income? Have you taken any Cape government program classes to learn about the Cape and its government processes? What is the name of the new Fire Chief, What is the name of the former Police Chief, isn’t Google a great thing—looked that right up didn’t you? duh

Suggestion: Check with the Clerk's Office for the list as to how to qualify office. Don't believe, other than you have to live in the district you are competing for (and that seems questionable lately, live with your parents, do you pay taxes, own a home, None apply.

Hello Mr. Hopgood, This is candidate Graham Morris for district one and I regret that you feel I have a lack of understanding for the important issues of Cape Coral. I would like to hear from you as to what exactly you feel I am misunderstanding(please contact me at cape4morris1@gmail**** or at (501)499-3251 if you would like). It is my goal to serve the council as one who devotes much of his energy to enhancing and repairing the public's trust, confidence, and sentiment in this city. I am running because, after being here 8 years, the attitudes and relationships that surround council have had difficulty improving or have deteriorated. I am running also to improve the relationships and lines of communication that council(and the candidates)have with the people they serve.Having stagnate or even adversarial relationships with those in our community is more taxing on the city than anything financial ever could be - Sir, I am here for you and all others concerned, I hope to hear from you

Burch did not vote because the issue of a perceived conflict of interest was brought up by another council person at a council meeting. He did the right thing at the time, so that the vote wouldn't be questioned.

Mr. Burch was asked the voting question by many and his answer was, he is no longer affiliated with companies and he most certainly will be voting. Just for your information.

If you didn't care for the politics of the Minute Men council members, you certainly won't care for the politics of David Headd. As for Mr. Golub, he didn't show up for the Young Republicans forum either. I'm not certain how committed he is to this campaign. In addition, his first campaign financial report is full of election finance errors.
