@ Mr. Speigle.. we did get a new council and city that wasnt in co-hoots with the fab 5 and the raggetts. Imho, the bashers, fearmongers and pure out liars will be shown the door in 2013.Putting positive representatives with integrity, honesty and the knowledge to get this city growing again will happen. here's a interesting question for you: Why are you and you tax buddies NOT over across the bridge crying to them about the County property raises being raised? stop the cape crybaby stuff and get over there and fix the county woes.

Charlie, they think they're slick. It's not hard to understand that "no new taxes" is only Mumbles/Leetz Speak for "all kinds of new fees and charges." Can't wait to see Mumbles try to defend himself on this subject - especially since I got my Fire Assessment estimate today - over $200. Didn't say how much my taxes were going down. Sigh.

Eileyn: we have always paid for fire services. All that is being done now, is taking the hand out of one pocket and putting it in another pocket.

Our conservatives elected people at their best (No new taxes) that's what they ran for office on. I'm a conservative and I approve this message. Lets kick all these LIARS out of office . With the Bridge ,Gas, electric, and all the rest of the hidden Taxes why do they want more? Graft? or stupidity? get rid of all of them.

I guess this writer doesn't completely understand the needs of the Fire Department. I don't like new taxes, but Yes, I think we need to pay for services that are provided. I don't ever want a day to come when I'm in need, or my family is and we call, and there is a delay in response. Do you know how many ambulances are stationed at one time in Cape Coral? Do you know the time you can go with out oxygen? It's not enough, and without our trained public safety professionals ready, willing and able to respond, you might die, or be left in a state that you wish you were not alive. I support our Fire Department. In fact today I'm stopping by on my way home to thank them in person for saving my mom's life last week. May you never have to have them respond, but when they do, it's life saving.
