LS..who was in the CRA driver's seat for the last 5 years? who came up with the Miami look without a storm water plan in effect?how much did that cost the taxpayers? Our city leaders had enough sense to realize what some on that Board was doing and took control until things are in the positive. Having two budgets in 2013 did not help their cause and knowing that you were supporting those responsible for the fiasco, makes me wonder how you can still post some of the dumb statements you have over the years..some friendly advice, "Get a NEW HOBBY" you will feel better

The figure of squandered $478,000 over 10 years is right on. The the agency it was squandered on was incorrect on my part, The agency that took the money. But the organization that you mention that just gave the money away was the same one that is ALWAYS in the mix. It was the City of Cape Coral, Florida that allowed $48,000 every year for ten years just flitted away. Lolita you do not see0m to get it the money comes from us the the Tax Payer mostly home owners who shoulder 93% of what is wasted. But looking at your posts these many years you care not about waste and I have a feeling you more than benefited from the tax dollars that were wasted. Your such an upstanding citizen...go waste your own money not mine or others who do not agree with you. More residents will support my feeling after this years round of NEW TAXES to SUSTAIN what was BAD to begin with!

Really? "It's not the organization that is important?" Guess you can never readily admit you made a mistake, just throw all sorts of names and innuendos to try to demean them. Really feel sorry for you (NOT).

Bobbie the $478,000 is for you to tuck into the folds of that halfwit brain of yours too! It is not the organization because thatis not of importance the WASTE of $48,000 every year for ten years, Bobbie is the important point. Really too bad you can not grasp that. I realize concept is not your forte.

Sorry wrong initials but the FACT remains this excuse of a city spent a half a million dollars ($480,000 to be exact) for absolutely NOTHING. Ask the CLOWNS on the city council if they need that money? Note this when Sullivan stopped payment and brought the fact to light that the city was getting next to nothing for the money snd cities like Sanibel, Ft. Myers Beach (a town), Alva, Ft. Myers, were not paying anything a few still on this council balked and RAILED at that time! Pay attention because people like you are causing most to pay more than they need to pay to run a city!

As stated before, it is not the MPO, that received $48,000 a year. Set the record straight.

Half a million bucks says I am not so dim and it has even lit lights in many voters minds as well.

Tell the majority of the voters how they are being screwed by a false reduction in millage rate to improve a false balance sheet in this city.

Tell the the home owners 50% of the 50,000 plus home will be paying more than the $65 and more like the $230 a home for what is NOW in their real estate Tax.

Tell the majority of the people who live here 12 months a year they will be paying a 7% utility tax every month especially in the late spring and summer months.

The SIX can look at each other and figure we are not going to be on council when we run again! Neither will t5heir replacement friends!

Your up to your chin and sinking fast. Keep changing the rules to try to make the city viable? NO!

MPO is only trying to repay the money the seem to know the city of Cape Coral< FL squandered on the organization for ten years. I have to repeat $48,000 for 10 years for NOTHING. How stupid. So now they are paying the city rent and this MPO may end up as an organization DOA!

If Sullivan repaid his friend it was with fleshing out almost half a million dollars paid by the stupid Mayors before him who paid $48,000 a year for ten years.

Where were the councilmembers who were to attend the meeting before Sullivan was ever elected and SAID NOTHING?

Half a million buck of tax payer dollars FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Take a close look at these recycled rag a muffins who are going to attempt to run and rerun for Mayor. Burche & Boyd.

Someone ask Boyd about the road he made sure went by his commercial land when he was on the city council last time!

What was pointed out bug time is that this city has been a rats nest for decades.

Just to bring it into a semblance of order took time. BUT IT WAS FINALLY PROVEN THE CITY DID NOT EVEN MAINTAIN THE MOST BASIC OF RECORD KEEPING. He also had an unwilling group of union puppets to cover up deny, deny and continue to deny waste and self profiteering. We have watched the path the Slick Six has guided the city down and I mean DOWN and it is a FAILURE. That is why so many LIES figures that do not make sense in spite of huge amount of Tax dollars from normal means in the 7.13% property valuation.

JJS...don't look now, but she is gaining on you. Where was "your plan" (meaning Sullivan) for four years...nowhere. Try to keep Sully awake during the meetings. That might help.

lightswitch....the Mayor has accomplished nothing in four years, am I to believe he will differ with another four? He and his "like-minded" group have brought nothing to the Cape but hate and discontent, and an unwillingness for anyone, anywhere, to work with him.###JJ,,,Marni scares the*****out of you, doesn't she. Shen should, because she is the exact polar opposite of the "ROADIE" ideal. She is young, exciting, and wants to take our city into this century. We as a group in this city are finished with the "tired, angry old man" class in govt. Bringing things into today is not something you can wrap your mind around. Marni has my vote. The alternatives are angry vote or been there, didn't do it vote.

Only the Truth, if you are expecting honesty and straightforwardness from this candidate you are wasting your time. Grand platitudes is all you will get, not a plan. I bet she has no idea what the city government spent last year or what they plan on spending this year. She will take no stand except to be forward looking. Just more BS.

I have several questions if you want to answer them and not just a bunch of buzz words. 1. Do you support the City Manager and agree with his actions so far? 2. Do you support the public service tax? 3. Do you support the UEP in this economic environment? Do you support the Fire Service Tax? 4. Do you fell we need more or less city government? I am sure you or any other candidate will not answer thises questions. I am sure your primary support group will be unions and city workers. When you answer the questions then we will know what your "New Outlook" really is.

outinside: yes, the mayor is on the MPO. The Mayor is not the sole vote for Cape Coral. Cape Coral has 4 votes. Where is our fair share if he is supposed to make sure we get it. Cape Coral pays more in taxes than any other municipality in Lee County. We do not get back what we should. Anyone who believes a candidate for any office that makes promises of what, and how they will do something, is either a fool or someone who has no idea how our system of government works. She has ideas, which are good, but cannot promise to implement any of them. It all depends on the whole council, not one individual.

Dimbulb, MPO???, NOT! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Since you brought it up, I believe the MPO is where your bud, Sully, repaid his big contributor who owns property at Veterans and Santa Barbara by condemning the overpass there. Oh, politics, what fun!

Nice try lightswitch. Before posting, try learning. The city did not spend $48K on the MPO. The money went to the Regional Planning Council. The MPO is funded by the feds.

Yes let's bring up the Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Let's point out this city sent a representative to it for 10 years and paid $48,000 to be a voting member.

Let's point out Mayor John Sullivan after attending found out the Cape Representatives in prior year were attending infrequently. But allowed the city to pay for those 10 years $480,000 with nothing in return. Sullivan held up the $48,000 yearly payment and was chastised by many for that. Just add it to the pile of squandered TAX dollars those before him just kept signing the checks!

Add up the millions this city overspent on garbage deals like this one and you have CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA.

Residents do not be angry, jaded or speak up. Remain quiet, content, and willing to overpay for poor second rate government at top shelf price. Keep pretending all is well when it has been shown to have so many flaws. Continue to overlook and stumble forward at whatever cost. Live the lie so others will not know & a fix not

I will be voting for the council members and mayor that promise to stay out of my pocket. If they keep that promise then I will continue to vote for them.
