July 3, 2013

To the editor: I am seeing more rudeness in retail than I used to, and it is coming from both sides....

Rudeness indeed! What boggles my mind is businesses which shut the door and go home before their stated closing time - just happened to us tonight with a restaurant in Fort Myers. Big as life, "9:00 closing;" the door was locked at 8:15. You'd think people who are lucky enough to own viable businesses would have enough sense to at least stay open until the time glowingly displayed on their front door! Any one else have this problem?

The idea of building a loyal customer base is gone in american business. What has taken its place is the idea that I am going to make my money from each idiot who will part with their money. Customers stop being loyal and we have stopped demanding good uality service.

Unfortunately, the GenX kids who were raised to think their feces didn't stink are now waiting on people who WORK for a living. Gum chewing, cellphone chatter, lack of customer respect, etc. Businesses know their clerks and wait-staffs are sub-par, but who else can they hire? The whole generation is self-important, arrogant, and uneducated!
