Why is or does the city have to pull 62% of the fire dept budget out of the budget and increase the amount as a separate bill, with storm water tax, solid waste?

Easy the city CAN NOT CONTROL ITSELF, is not responsible as most other municipal governments are. A shameful job by a shameful small group at the expense those they profess to govern. If logic had prevailed decades ago by many who were told they knew nothing and stifled the city's growth had even partially heeded warnings. Would this city be in the shape it is in today? NO!

netransplant I come to the conclusion of the services too costly because Cape Coral, Florida has the highest cost of all the municipalities in Southwest Florida.

Take the water and sewer for one. How many consultants have to come here and tell the city managers and the councils that we possess a high debt in comparison to other cities that provide the same service. Evidently you do not attend, watch, and listen to what is said at council meetings. It makes me understand how uninformed you really are.

Lolita it won't be soon enough for me that you and any spawn you are associated with leave. So hurry up!

You have done enough and we will see it play out beginning with the Oct. electric bills. Forget about the car insurance because the 7% home hazard insurance will be an additional crippler for many in this city. Keep em coming we will be on a municipal meltdown sooner than later. Kiss the bureaucracy goodbye.

Onlythetruth you really need to take yourself out onto the street and begin talking and question those that do not seem to agree with you.

You know many of those people are not on the internet, are afraid to question their government at any level, and think that VOTING is useless.

I have the time to see this thing play out but many do not. I'll be able to show you the errors of your thoughts but many will be gone.

"It is not the city's job to break the residents or the churches." Marty McClain

Let's see if the churches experience a drop off in collections to provide aid to the poor of the city.

Let's see if the city has to make more calls for food drives or sees a drop in participation.

There is a tipping point for everything and this city has screwed it up to a fare thee well!

If it (a city government or agency) can not conduct its business correctly to bring services to those who have to pay for them. Then either corrections are made or a dismantling needs to take place and a better means needs to be developed.

No different than the oppressive yokes put on any people. It is the American way. When the almighty state (In this case a city government) becomes the end all over its governed it is time to make the necessary changes.

Build it and run it right and they will come invest and want to stay. The majority not just those in a upper GOVERNMENT TIER. You want a caste system go to India, but not here not now, not ever! Check out the worst jobs in America on Google and you will see this is what has been attracted here to pay premium wages and benefits for a local government. If this is not so take a hard look at what is here and what jobs have the worst pays. The local tax situation here in the next year will bear out what I state. It is happening

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Never have I seen a group of individuals such as yourself and those you support who take such great, unbridled joy in the mere contemplation of this city collapsing. The fact you even mention it shows that you don't care if thousands suffer, as long as you and your cronies can say you were right in the end. Too bad you will all be disappointed. Yet, the fact you want to witness such personal misery to simply make a point is frightening, and also the primary reason you and those you support will never occupy the seats of power again.

Here is a road ahead for ya onlythetruth.

I have as some have stated ranted about the 7% Utility Tax, the Fire Assessment Tax, the high water/sewer rates and assessments.

Well just when you thought I would not could not add to the list of a failed city.

NBC-2 reports a 7% increase on homeowner insurances rates.

ahahahahahahaha! How many steps closer has your forward moving city has moved many of its residents to that so called CLIFF?

Who ya gonna pay first? Insurance on your upside down indebted home? Real estate Tax? Your electric Bill? The water/sewer assessment if you are unfortunate to have one now or soon? How much closer to that same CLIFF has the city moved? Time will tell as this plays out. See which insiders break and run first! Oh but first after the 5% bonus is put in play and the 3% guaranteed increase for all the pensioners past, present, and future check out the forthcoming balanced budget. When they can't collect enough to fulfill the obligation! Fi

Oh Terrygolf, you obviously have the old road ahead crew mixed up with the author of this LTE. Everyone knows there is only one author for the roadies, and they just take turns attaching their names to the bottom of his letters to make it appear as if many are writing. As I have said previously, you and your group always accuse others of what you yourselves are guilty of doing.

The scouts Code needs are individuals to know the codes and get the dept. with the teeth to enforce them.

Like the boat trailer in a driveway on a trailler for over 2 months (not even being moved).

$25 a day $1,525 lost revenue!

Two vehicles next door with signage on their doors also 2 months and counting. $3,050 lost revenue.

$6,575 lost revenue. City's cry we have no money to operate!

You think the firefighters, police, city workers are not out and about? They are and their chant "Not my job man"!

Mr. Leon when Zucker speaks about “The infrastructure” he is talking about the status quo, the bloated union payrolls, the bloated city regulation, ordinances, and herds of endless fools stringing up red tape around everything we “the taxpayers” do! Taxing our electric bill for police & fire services which our property taxes have already paid for? Extorting current utility customers into paying for errors of the past and then shifting the blame on the unfortunate dwellers in the northern part of our city. Impeding local businesses from relocating, expanding, and making a profit is not what our outdoor advertising propaganda extolls. I’m shocked, I say, shocked to learn a city consultant advises the city to expand the status quo.” Let's stop grousing about the past and pointing fingers!” You say, how about we quit paying for the past and see how that works out. At one time CCPD Volunteers helped with code violations. That was terminated under King. As were half the Code jobs. Scout Volunteers and the Group that volunteers to clean overgrown ugly properties are citizens trying to make things better. What to Galt and Bulb do to make things better? not a dang-m thing! (Well they do all keep the Elks and Moose in the bar business, just sayin) Oh, well, their pals follow Kape Kids to movie theaters to spy on them--forgot that part....

MrGault: eye know i waste your time, as wordsmiths are well aware of the world of connotations and denotations. Your blitzkrieg forward rush in your, ( def) 1., ..." explore carefully", in a straight line to, "Hitler Youth" is dazzling, dysfunctional classic Glenn, the fox, Beck Admit it, you are a card-carrying storm trooper of the Beck bombastic brigade.

Clarification here: The "Scout Volunteer Program" are Cape citizens who volunteer to cut overgrown lawns and clean foreclosed properties that blight neighborhoods. They give their time, and they don't ask for a dime!

Now i waste my time, because there will be no meaningful discussion from u on Mr. Leon's, move forward, LTE.

People laugh, but your backward angry rhetoric is sad and silly.

Johngalt~Wonderful. First we had resident groups that were terrorists. Then we had council members that were mobsters. Now we have children in our community that are spies being taught the skill of espionage. What happened, you didn't earn all of your Boy Scout merit badges so now 'scouts' are a bad thing?

It is obvious to this blogger that johngalt & lightswitch either have a drinking problem or are non compos mentis. Their inability to stay on topic or even elaborate on a specific point would suggest this. Just look at the reference to "people even wanting to come here." Ridiculous, just look at the number of businesses that have come here and the increase in population as well as new construction, since the "new" Council took charge. God bless the new Council for all they have done. And a special thanks to the City Manager. People, we are doing well, don't you think?

From the report…“implement programs like Code Scout Volunteers that save tax dollars without damaging infrastructure.” Interesting word that, scout, (def.) 1.” To spy on or explore carefully in order to obtain information; reconnoiter.” Just what we need, young developing minds being dry cleaned into thinking that city ordinance holds sway over our constitutional rights. Preparing them for a lifetime of neighborhood trespassing, future warriors against tall grass, boat trailers, and those feared garage sale signs! This smacks of the “Hitler Youth” program, but it won’t “damage infrastructure.”

Lightswitch is mixing several different subjects together with no clear understanding of any single topic. How do you come to the statement of services being too costly? The people in the district being constructed pay for the UEP? But you know this so why the deceptive question? You are trying to stir manure up where there ain't none, a typical rag maneuver when you can't use facts to back up your lies.
