If the BONUS is taken from any fund, especially the PENSION FUND. Then it follows their is not real savings is their.

If you save it you do not spend it. Conversely If you spend it you can not save it.

Try it with a checking account that needs to maintain a specified amount to SAVE a monthly service charge.

I do not know how much more mundane I could make it for you to be able to comprehend the concept.

Then it would follow in your opinion if it is not a good idea embrace it?

Logic says NO!

Face facts the census says there is over 20,000 more residents and this city government still can not live within its means.

Thus a $20 million dollars short fall.

PS your city manager John Szerlag states the city is actually short $300 million in capital improvement money.

Logic says it is not realistic.

A man making the per capita income in Cape Coral, Fl. does not buy a new Rolls Royce car even if he desired to do so.

Ahh Switchy, a bit of research on your part will show the monies that will be used to pay the "bonus" are being derived soley from the savings generated related to the pension fund. Many have been screaming for pension reform for years, now that it has arrived you now claim it is worthless. I'd hazard a guess if your heroes achieved this deal you would be shouting it from the mountain tops touting how woderful it is for the populace. Yet, because it came from those you oppose it is worthless. This is the problem with government today, just because an opponent may have a good idea, doesn't mean you trash it.

Attending meetings does not make one qualified to govern Switchy. This "requirement" was fabricated and instituted by your heroes. That's like saying anyone who hangs around in the lobby of a bank day after day is qualified to become a banker in your view. They aren't, it takes talent. The Fab 5 shot down the applications of many who wanted to serve their community simply because they felt their attendance at meetings was the one and only qualification that mattered, that's a ludicrous basis to judge someone's qualifications.

Have we paid out to the police department the 5% of wages BONUS yet? Just to name one gimmee.

Oh yeah they are giving up $93 million over 25 years. An average savings of $3,720,000 in one year. But as the city Manager Szerlag stated the city will NOT see the bulk of the savings until the latter part of the term. This amount is only one half of what was the reserve amount of the general fund of Gary King's last budget. The city will get really nothing for this concession from the police union.

Hello?!? I have a theory that hello?!? Has a history with Eric. It started on the Dias as a means to keep Peter awake. It seemed to be effective with Peter so a snowball effect took place when he used it to wake the Mayor up for meetings he was late for. Then he used it to bring Bill back to earth to inform him he lost the election. It worked for them so he is using it to lead us. Just a theory....

Not at all, the true definition of "Mickey Mousing" in politics is when 4 sitting council members appoint a man to fill a vacant seat sighting 50 signatures on a petition as the overwhelming, compelling reason. Claiming those same 50 signatures are the definition of massive public support. "Mickey Mousing" is then watching that very same appointee sit silent for the duration of his term and vote as he is told to by those who appointed him. Yup, that's the definition of "Mickey Mousing" in politics. Hello!!
