@Supercal: To quote YOU: "Anyone (and I mean anyone) who had even a scintilla of doubt about the decency or virtue of McClain's underlying actions needs to go. End of story. " It reads as if you are saying that all the RAGophants who are doubtful about McClain's ethics should go. Works for me. Well said!

What does a 5.5% increase in real estate value equate to in increased taxes in Cape Coral.

What does a 7% utility tax on electricity equate to on electric bills.

What does a 60% to 70% coverage of the fire department budget as an off the tax bill amount with the trash pick up, and storm water tax.

TAX upon TAX upon TAX. using no more services than most used last year or 6 years ago or 30 years ago.

Wait till the realization that the city can not make its pension obligations! It can't come soon enough!

L.S., the only Clowns in this city were the ones VOTED OUT in the 2011 election. I even recall the Chippendale dancer jig they tried for a short time. What a belly laugh that was. It's very obivious that you were part of the Clowns that tried to bankrupt the Cape.If you are so unhappy with our Paradise City, I-75 goes North on a daily basis. Goodbye..Your RAG gang will not get another chance to take the Cape over the road of destruction that you and Super crave for. WE all are aware that even if you boys change the gang name, it doesnt make any change to the crybabies you really are.

CapeCuestions most know the selling point which is pure BS about the millage coming down.

First it was stated 2 points. Then one week later it was 1 point! Most know these clowns haven't got a clue and were only attempting to sell it.

The utility tax had a similar smell first 10% then reduced to 7%. The thought and intent we'll give them a bargain and come back for more.

I'll bet you will see in only ONE YEAR the utility tax unless it is rescined is pushed to 10% in increments. The millage rate if dropped by 1 point will be right back to where it is today pushing the 10 point ceiling.

CapeCoralCuestions you are going to attempt to pin the blame the FAB5?

For the dropping property values? Beggan happening before they ever thought of running!

You would like me and others who you do not agree with to syop posting what did happen and is still happening in this city? That is not going to happen anytime soon or later!

Between the businesses that are going to suffer from less expendable income in the city by the more than 1200 who work for the city and their families they are not about to save this local economy.

Keep adding taxes!

The local election will tell the tale to see if you are correct or if I am correct!

Around that time we can then see how the utility tax of 7% on top of the current electric costs and the soon to come additional fire department assessment on property effects the future growth here.

Why don't you and you give us a list of communities that have initiated these types of added taxes during the last 7 years and report their growt

LitWitch: PLEASE keep posting! You have finally OUTED the main purpose for the Freak5 and their puppet-masters. We have it at last: the true purpose of this group of thugs is to destroy this city. Perhaps they hope to drive property prices so low and then live so long that they can buy up the whole city! Doesn’t matter who LitWitch really is – you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas. These statements and posts should be brought up at EVERY open forum and people asked to take a stand on this issue.

In other cities they know how to follow up and send dunning letters even if it is a church. OPPS I guess we made ANOTHER half a million dollar error. MUST BE GROWING PAINS? MUST BE THE COMPUTER? MUST BE THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (NO IT IS NOT.)FAULT. Gee we have no money for Capital Projects lets RAID the Water & Sewer Fund of the rate payers AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. There has to be a way to bring this city to a finale. Because it has not become better only worse. Wait till the added taxes fail and they need MORE!

Cape coral ?'s the point you miss is this. This city in spite of the missteps, overcharging for basic services, poor management (your city manager's words on some of the directors along with poor scheduling) can't even get it right.

Now tell me staff never realized it could not pay for the religious establishments like other cities. The reason for this they have never before had a person knowledgeable in planning, overseeing, or executing the project. Consultants and friends of the city were made wealthy. Far from the $15,000 consultants some speak of like it would break the city. It is already broken. This project is not new to other cities, so just like the computer system debacle it is screwed up but to mention only one of its projects. ONLY EXCUSES! NEVER A COMPLETE CONCISE, AFFORDABLE, SERVICE AT A VALUE. Hey speaking of a church how's the $478,000 assessment the city will not ever collect? I sent it out on a postcard. NO I never received it. Why did no follow up?

The QOUTE below is from Lightswitch. At last we have the truth from one of the FREAK5! If you poke the pig often enough, it will snap at the stick and LS did! Thanks so much for the one honest post you have ever made (even if it probably took drinking Dewars at Babes!)

If it takes dismantling this city government so be it. However if and when the prices of real estate return to a level I AM SATISFIED WITH I'll leave in a New York second and so will many others. The largest land mass with drainage ditches more than they have in Venice does not make QUALITY OF LIFE. Keep providing the burrowing owl in the area that looks like the steppe lands of Africa 1st class services and I'll get to see the County take over the governance here, and stay!" ENUF said. Perhaps she has gotten into the Dewars at Babe's!

Litwitch: how long does McGrail have to live here before he stops being an outsider? He’s been here 30 years! Please . . . You complain about subsidizing the churches, but don’t we subsidize disabled veterans? Blind, handicapped, and low income people? Witch, you are such a liar! City staff has been cut by half in the last 5 years. When will it be cut enough to make YOU happy? Now, that works for me. Freak5 pays more a month in cable fees than they will in new taxes. And let’s not lie by omission and not remind the folks that their milage rate will go DOWN as the new taxes take effect! You know what would work for me? Anyone who doesn’t want to contribute to the Fire Service Tax should be able to opt out and then not be able to call 911! Yup, uhuh.

Sandy, with your heart full of love and compassion, maybe you could offer to rent McClain a room. Doesn't matter where you live; the love will suffice. Seriously, a man (and I use that term lightly) who so arrogantly ignores personal vows, public opinion and city law deserves some love, all right, some non-enabling, tough, out of the house, off City Council love.

Can you say "temporary"? At no time did McClain say he had moved permanently. Domestic strife has hit many a family and we all know to resolve the issue initially, one of the parties must relocate, for nothing more than a cooling off or a reconsider period. This was a temporary move, based on a personal problem. People, where is the compassion? The love?

Erbrick says "someone has to pay." Oh well it must be the rate payers.

She is a real visionary. She comes from Michigan as does McGrail and a city manager giving this council whatever it wants and however it wants. That is why he was hired.

This group who hails from the "Big But Broke" state of Michigan with its problems child Detroit. They only have to look at how it is that Detroit is being salvaged. They brought in a third party to sort out the unpaid bills and the services standard revenue streams to pay them. They cut wages, benefits, and PENSIONS put the money back into cutting debt. When last I looked they still are operating. There BLIGHT like other major cities can be turned around one home at a time by the same residents the city ran off with high tax due to the fat wage and pension checks! Checkout Dean Park in Ft.Myers and then see the blighted areas. Not the government but the people who own the property. People not government create blight and can

McGrail continues to amaze making a fool of himself as he tried to search for a word other than SUBSIDIZE to describe how his plan to discount utility assessments will be paid by the rate payers and again by those whose church they attend.

The real question is where and why is there NO money to cover the nonprofit operations? There seems to be in other communities throughout the United States.

I will tell you. Your tax dollars went to GAC/AVATAR. A million here to buy this, a million there to take more and more OFF the tax rolls. The money is tied up in staff that was NEVER dropped in the beginning of the Great Recession of 2007 and still going on for 7 years. Favors, bending RULES all at the expense of those who do not benefit monetarily from them.

Mr Shannon, equating your definition of representation to all other politicians; does this now mean when an elected official "resides" in Washington D.C. he no longer represents you? Even thgough is voter registration card, driver's license, mortgage, etc still reflects said politician as residing in the district? You see how foolish your argument is? This was nothing more than the sharks with the Road Ahead trying to unseat a council person whom they could not beat at the polls. It's how they operate. It's called the politics of destruction.

I had to chuckle (kind of) at Donnell's spirited defense of McClain. No, Big D, we haven't forgotten about Donnell's Dilemma, you remember, that little problem that cost you the big school district bucks. Anyone (and I mean anyone) who had even a scintilla of doubt about the decency or virtue of McClain's underlying actions needs to go. End of story.
