Coincidence? Headlines “Not Business Friendly” & “Future “Dollar” store raises questions for Council” on the same day?? quote "We have an opportunity for something better. We're getting hammered with these dollar stores," Donnell said. "Is there any way we can deny this?" Now where was councilmen Donnell when we built all those drug stores, banks, and auto parts shops? Sounds like he’s fishing with someone else’s bait. Why obstruct any business? Are they not going to pay all the requisite tribute to the city’s coffers? Will they not pay property tax on the building, will they not provide some jobs? If they build too many stores for this market, they’ll fail and someone else will have an opportunity to own or rent the building. Big deal! Let’em build it! Perhaps council should just buy up the land so they can wait for something better.
