To the editor: The Ordinance on the Public Service Tax was poorly written and poorly conceived! Nowhere is there an exemption given for our disabled veterans of war? As it stands right now if they......

when all else fails, the WAH-WAH-WAH element dusts off the old guard and parades them across the podium. look at the last couple of meetings, for the first time since the election we have seen Rosko, Brandt..Easy Button Eric and Steve The Joystick show (in no particular order..) righteous indignation, cliche use of an old famous sayings book, scripted read-alouds that should have been printed in bigger letters and total ignorance. Keep up the good work guys, you just validate our vote.

The tax will not be going anywhere any time in your lifetime Lynn. Once taxes are passed they rarely if ever go away. That is simple reality. You can vote whomever you like into council. The tax is here to stay.

@netransplant: You say, "I can't wait for Sullivan's retirement party in November!" It will be held in an old phone booth. I'll fly in for that, to be sure.

Facts only hinder the position taken by this group. Keep sighting them and eventually their argument falls flat.

There will never be a perfect time. People will adjust to the situations given them. With a council that finally has enough smarts and backbone to tell these minorities of whiners that show up every three years that the right thing may not please them but it must be done for the city's sake, it will be done. And thanks to the sensible six for that. I can't wait for Sullivan's retirement party in November!

Keep talking remind all of us just how vindictive and power grubbing the "likeminded" group you represent became. Lovejoy is a prime example of what you stand for. I mean, he is your "President"... right?

@LynnRosko: You and your T Baggers all drink the same kool-aid, it is not the time, the economy is down, the hungry will be more hungry. If not now when? Unemployment is just 2% above the national average of the last 20 years. Interest will never be lower. The UEP loan rate is 2%. And the real estate taxes in the cape are down 35 percent. NOW IS THE TIME! And as far as NO STUDIES, Did you go to any of the City Manager's presentations? The ones I watched on the internet did address the 4% rise in monies from the Ad Valorem tax rollercoaster, and that is in the BURTON Model. You don't have the beginnings of Demetia, do you? Why must you and the RAGs keep lying and spreading false information. You must really believe that it will get all of you back in office. Nothing can be further from the truth. NOTHING!

netransplant we will have to agree to disagree.

In this economy and the employment situation the way it is, it my humble opinion that now is NOT the time to pass new taxes along to our residents. The residents are having a hard enough time getting by

Lynn, you are missing the point of the PST and the fire assessment fee. These are two of the critical parts needed to achieve diversification in future city budgets. The greatest reason for the turmoil over the past decade is the near sole dependence of the city on ad valorum taxes, with their up and down swings in property values. If this had been done a decade ago we would have avoided some of the discourse the city has experienced. It is human nature to not accept change, but change is natural and these changes will be good for the future of Cape Coral. The mayor says wait for our ship to come in before acting on anything but we don't have a port!

netransplant you missed the point of my letter

"There was no research into the increases in property values that ultimately will bring in tens of millions in additional revenue to the city without any increase in the millage or the Public Service Tax."

Lynn, you are being ridiculous again. Why should people who paid impact fees in the north Cape be denied the roads they paid for? You seem to find any reason to argue against, just as you always have. When the mayor retires again in November you and he can work at helping the poor without stealing from people who invested in this city.

You need a deduction for the $8.00 the PST is going to cost you? In a 15% tax bracket you will get $1.20 back. Whoopee!!!
